No worries at all. After two go-rounds with those pickups and 5-way, maybe it finally dawned on someone that they need to go with their strengths.
In my late teens I bought an old bass from a mom pop music store near me for around $200. It was a late 60's early 70's Blond Telecaster bass. I was mainly a drummer and noodled around with bass so it sat mostily in my basement. So when I got married and moved out of my parents house I gave it away to some aspiring young kid looking to play bass. From sitting in the basement some of the steel screws rusted and the pick guard had a crack in it. I thought of it as junker at that point. What did I know back then?
Now I see a similar bass on EBay selling for $4,750. Ouch that hurts!!!! Wish I had kept that bass now.

Should conversation not happen because they have already happened? If one wants to participate in a conversation should they only be able to read past conversations?
I've been lucky, never had an instrument stolen. Lost a loaner or two, but nothing stolen that I know of.
All true, Allen. I added to this conversation in the way I saw fit to do.
If people followed that rule we'd have very few conversations. I doubt there are very many topics that haven't been covered before in some way.
I have been exposed to theft once. An instrument and pedals. Luckily, the insurance company said it was a very "valid" case, and I recouped some of it, since I could show them receits of how much I paid for it new. No precious instruments, and 2 thirds of the actual cost covered. So I got a bunch of money to compensate and buy something else even. Didn't miss it THAT much because it was a run of the mill bass. It's the surprised and stumped feel you have when something is suddenly lost. Selling it, you know beforehand that you will - sort of - miss it, and has to calculate for it.
I had a Ric 4003 stolen out of my car about 12 years ago. They smashed the windows in my car to get it. The insurance company wouldn't pay anything to help me replace the Ric either since I couldn't provide them with the serial number of the bass. Even called AMS, where I bought it a few weeks prior, and at the time they said they did not track the SN of thier guitars. It sucked. Still sucks.
About 2 weeks after, I went into my local GC and I was telling the guys what happened...They told me that a couple of guys had come in a few days prior trying to sell a black Ric 4003 and they had turned them away because they were acting suspicious. They also mentioned that one of the screws holding the neck pup in had been changed and was incorrect...When I got the bass, I removed the pup cover and lost the screw, so I replaced it with another screw I had laying around. Total bummer. Wish I had let them know right after it happened!
Also had a Schecter Elite 5 NT stolen at gig. Never found that one either.

MTD 535 serial #28...korina/wenge/wenge...Seafoam green lacquer finish! I got a screaming deal on it from Adrian Garcia and I had to sell to build some funds for a down payment on a new home...I wish I could have this one back...Also an odd one...I was designing a bass with Greg Curbow and before I could order it, he passed...One of the luthiers that worked with him, Doug Somervell, found a drawing in his shop and built the bass with his son...I saw a pic on Facebook and asked several times for him to build this bass, and it got into something about him asking me to "prove" that the bass was my idea...I guess since it was a father son project for him, it turned out being something that would end up being an impossibility for me

I literally watched (in slow motion) my car get driven away with my 85 fretless 5 string thumb bass in the back seat and I chased the car (on foot) for two blocks - - - They found the car in a ditch 2 hours later and 20 years later I still have no idea where that bass is

- I privately own and operate a local musical instument repair shop.
My first bass was a '41 Kay C-1... I traded it for the upright I still play today, but I often hope to find it again. Last I heard, it was in upstate New York. I don't even have a picture of it, but the one that replaced it gets gigged regularly.
I guess the one that makes me saddest was a Martin D-16H (H was for 'herringbone') I bought new in 1992. Took me six months to pay off the layaway. Long story short, hard times came, and I had to sell it to pay bills and a divorce lawyer. Then I cried every night for six months. (about the guitar!) I swear if I ever find Serial Number 518842 again, I will gladly buy it back. Even if it's a box of splinters and I have to pay new price for it. That guitar was just made for me.
Had to dig in a shoebox, but here's a picture of a picture of us back in the glory days. (note in the Road Warrior pic, someone has been scissored out... yeah, she was the reason I had to sell it)

I have a 2006 Stingray 30th Anniversary that which is the one I probably regret selling the most, even though I made a great bit of profit on it. It was one of the best playing and sounding 4 strings I've every had.
If this thread has taught be anything, it's that I should make sure to have a separate insurance plan for someone stealing my gear!
