Seth is surprising me with his acting. That whole bit where he tells Alara she's not quitting was great dramatic acting!

Is the doctor an awful actress or is it just me. She wasn't good in DS9. She has that unnatural delivery like young kids in a school play.
Nitpicking is a better way to say it, rather than crucifying, I'll give you that. And yes, I agree, the vibe is overall positive. It is somewhat amusing that some will not budge, no matter what and will always find a negative. And that's fine, we don't all have to like the same thing. I'm actually surprised I like the show. I'm usually pretty lukewarm, at best, with this type of show. Perhaps because this show is different from many in this genre, I like it. I can certainly appreciate how some might not.The original title of this thread was something like “The Orville, new Star Trek show by (ugh) Seth MacFarlane”.
By and large the comments here have been positive. I don’t recall anyone “crucifying” the show. In fact the OP (or someone) changed the title of the thread to remove the implied negativity.
Nitpicking? Yes, it’s bound to occur. But overall the reaction here has been very favorable.
I changed it. I decided I like the show. I still think everything else he's done besides Cosmos is garbage. The original title of this thread was something like “The Orville, new Star Trek show by (ugh) Seth MacFarlane”.

In which way?
Discovery ≠ S.T.D.
Well in one sense it doesn't matter which one is better--and either could existIn which way?

But The Orville strikes me as truer to Star Trek.
I get that Discovery in some ways is behind the scenes & Another side of wha was going on--but sloppy writing, poor characterization & messing with their own internal essence are weaknesses for Discovery.
the Orville is just fun
Seth is surprising me with his acting.
Ever heard him sing ? the guys a first class crooner. Saw him do a tune with Norah Jones once, he has a very good singing voice.
For starters, this part I agree with. It is, unlike the Orville for the most part...This thread is funny.
Hm. So to you it's either a masterpiece, or current TV kinda sucks. Let's see:The Orville is one of the better acted, written, and directed shows on network television right now
It's opinions. You know, those orifice-like things? Don't let those contrary to yours annoy you so much.yet some of the people here just crucify the show for the tiniest little things. Nothing like expecting a show to be bad and then generating evidence to support your opinion
OK, so, no masterpiece. Got it.It's a TV show, the acting isn't going to be worth little statues all the time. I just enjoy The Orville for what it is.
^ This other post reads much more reasoned overall. I applaud that. And I myself still find amusing that you need to paint lukewarm reception as stubbornness and nitpicking. (By all means I've no problem with you keeping at it if you choose to, to be clear.)Nitpicking is a better way to say it, rather than crucifying, I'll give you that. Not at all IMO.And it's way better than Discovery...
Nice! I've never had a post of mine here on TB so thoroughly dissected. Well done, sir!For starters, this part I agree with. It is, unlike the Orville for the most part...
