The Reverend Club (part 6)

That's a good point -- buying & trying. But, even as a relatively new TB user, I try to support the community by bringing new items into it, rather than taking great instruments out of it.

Hypothetically speaking, I have no problem with someone buying, trying, and a week later selling a bass in the TB classifieds for what he paid -- or even at whatever value the market will bring. If it's here for some time and he really needs the cash, then there's no reason not to move it to ebay/CL/etc. But buying a bass at a good price here, and then immediately moving it to ebay seems opportunistic to me.

Anyway, this is the place to talk about Rev's, and while not currently a Fish owner, I'm always looking out for a reasonably priced PJ!

been my limited experience that auctions that end early did so because:
local buyer
got a good offer outside the bid process (fee dodgers;)...)
came to their senses and kept it

Thanks. I think this Mahogany is going to settle in and stay around. It's bounced around TB a couple times at least. Seems very versatile tonally. Not quite as punchy as my Fendowsky or Carvin for live playing, but I'm swapping around some strings and pickup heights and such and am gaining ground in those directions

Just curious... what does the ZSG'ish scribble on the back of the Reverend headstocks below the SN mean?

Hey man, power wash and stain that deck and they'll be a better match...and your deck will last longer;)

Got her in full series mode...that's gonna be phaaaat.

Heh... deck was originally a heavy honey stain and it's slowly worn away with power washings and clear treatments. Now it's RELIC'D.

I have HiBeams on the BH5 right now (SS LoRiders waiting) and am finding that I like the bridge set of pickups in Series. Neck set depends on the song but usually Series or Single. The SS strings definitely give it more of the mids and punch that I'm looking for. Still contemplating either an external preamp, or even maybe one of the new John East P-Retro preamps for it.

I'm very impressed with it.
Some live recordings with the bass are at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (Nashville cover country live mix and a couple blues/rock tunes)

the stellar offeres a nice range of options, but, it's all "various grades of cut."
so, if you want more top end sheen, or more mid punch, it ain't that...

interesting dealio though.

Hope you had a good gig.

My buddy got that black PJ that was for sale a couple weeks ago. He put LaBella(I think) flats on it and it sounds awesome. I think a set of Chromes are coming for mine in the very near future.

Sporting GHS flats on my XL & it suits the bass really well.
Chromes might be going on my PJ, looking to swap the strange
P pick up thats in mine & then experiment with strings.

Anyone holding Rev P Pick-ups??? I'm looking.
