Hello Reverend Club... I want to join the club... now in Europe it's quite hard to find these but i have an opportunity to get a Decision P from a secret location but.... it's an older model with the P pickup that looks like a humbucker... I'm looking all over to find out why they changed it but can't find info anywhere. Costs the same so just wondering what the new pickup did to the sound and generally if the older model would be less good basically. If you know of anything else i should look out for i'm love to hear from you. It's 4 and a half hours drive away and i don't own a car so If anyone knows anything i'd love to know before i go on a massive mission. Thank you!

I'm not entirely sure why they changed the pickups and I havent had the opportunity to compare the Decision with the Decision P but I'd say it's worth a four and a half hour drive. Love my Decision P!!!

Reverend FatFish..I put a Dimarzio DP 296 Relentless Middle in the neck position and a Delano PMVC 4 FE/M2 in the bridge position.It has the original electronics...500 Ohm volume and the dual gang blend knob 500 Ohm....I removed the tone knob and put MTD Super polished string on it.The bass weighs in at 7Lbs 13 oz

I'm the same way. I love being able to quickly mute or do a volume swell, or find a good blend and then turn up or down. And unless my math is wrong (which is very, very possible), you can dial in the same settings with blend as with two vol, right?

I think you're correct about the same settings, but this is just my personal opinion. I know that I don't have a problem getting the sound that I'm seeking and then I just work the volume. It may also help that I play in a 3-piece blues-rock band, which makes it easier to get the sound that works for our style of music.

It may also help that I play in a 3-piece blues-rock band, which makes it easier to get the sound that works for our style of music.

well my personal opinion is _always_ right But ever since switching to v/b/t I've found it easier, for me, to dial in the tones that I want. On my jazz I got a custom built control plate with v/b/t plus a series/parallel switch, and oh man, tone for days haha.

New bass day for me! This Mercalli 5FM arrived last Thursday, and I just happened to have a gig the next night so it got put to use right away.

I've never really gotten along with 5-strings in my 40+ years of playing, but somehow this year it's making sense to my little bass player brain. Been playing a Yamaha TRBX505 (great affordable bass) all year with a new band, and was pretty happy with it, but kept thinking of what I'd like to fix: wish it was passive only (don't like batteries or extra knobs I don't need), wish it had a roasted neck for a touch more stability, wish they hadn't covered over the headstock as you can't see the cool layers in the neck, wish it had a gloss finish. Then I saw this Reverend at Sweetwater. Less than 9 lbs (similar to the Yamaha) and addressed all the things I wished could be different on the Yamaha. So I bought it.

One of the better factory set-ups I've had. I lowered strings a bit, but intonation and relief are pretty spot on. If I'm honest, it feels better made than the Fender American Pro II P-bass I had earlier in the year, and doesn't have QC issues like that Fender did.

Had to snap a shot at the end of the gig. This is one where I triple for the show, and looking on this little forrest of instruments I realized that I'd be happy if these were the only 3 I had for the rest of my playing days.

Then I agree with your opinion. I agree with it being easier to dial in the tones with the v/b/t setup. The series/parallel switch sounds like a great idea. I'm glad it's working well for you.

welcome to the club!! The only time I got to try a mercalli before I bought mine was that same flame red one. I knew I had to have one and the flame maple top was so spectacular! You're gonna love it!

Yes, it is a Wattplower bass. But my picture is not that good - it is actually a faded Yellow color.

Do it! I love mine. I couldn't justify getting the MkI as I have three traditional P basses already. But the additional flexibility of the II put it over the top. Plus, my amazing wife surprised me with it for Christmas.

Great score, I'd love to try a Thundergun one of these days. I'd really like to do an A/B with the Thundgergun and my Dub King, as they have the same pickup layout and electronics, but obviously different body and scale length.

I believe all Reverend's are shipping with SIT strings these days. If they have brass ends you can be sure of it.

The one and only thing I don't love is the look of the pickup blend knob. I might look for something cool to put there.
