Didn't bring a Rev with me to china, and for those of you who don't know me, sorry for the spam...but I thought those of you who did might want to see what I'm up to over here in china:

I did a pickup transplant today. This really put some serious RUMBLE in my Fish From JJ to PJ in about an hour. I couldn't be happier with this one

The P/J set and pickguard came with the bass along with the J/J pups. The body is routed to take both. The only thing I had to do besides soldering was drill 4 holes for the P pup screws. I have this strange urge to put the Reverend Jazz pups in my Bacchus Jazz

Speaking of P/J.. I finally made it down to the Atlanta Bass Gallery's new location yesterday. Yikes. Dingwall Super P/J. Had me seriously thinking about offloading two of my Rumblefish, maybe all three. I'm not gonna do it, but I thought about it. Kinda hard to justify a bass that costs $800 more than I paid for all three of my 'Fish combined. Now I've got visions of a fanned-fret 'Fish...

I spent a few hours at the ABG when I was in town for the Blade Show. What a great place Jim's put together. I'll be going back every year. Next year with some funds in my pocket

My 5L is #79. It's really cool to know that my bass was put together by hand, and hand numbered.

Too true. Gotta love the low serial number.

Here's the back of my 5L, BTW:

5L #8, and signed by Joe himself. I still maintain it has the best playing neck of any five-string bass I've ever played (including my Sadowsky, as well as a number of boutique basses I've had the opportunity to play. I call it my "magic pixie dust bass." Everything is dialed in perfect.

BTW, nice score, knifemaker!!! Gotta love the PJ/JJ conversion. My #1 bass does that, but I've just kept it in the PJ mode, it's too cool. You might consider putting in some quick connects if you want to change it more often. Mine only takes about 10-15 minutes to make the switch.

No. I could be wrong but I think only some of the later ones like mine did. They really did a nice job of it. It's just the right size to accept either pup in the slanted position.

Has anyone ever used Reverend Jazz pups in standard Jazz bass?? I have Dimarzio's in my Bacchus but I'll bet the Reverend pups would really sound great in that bass??

I put a Reverend P into a Frankenbass I made once. It was great, and I imagine the Js would be just as sweet.

Well, neither Rumblefish on e-bay recieved any bids at all, leading me to believe they were overpriced. I think people thought that they were worth a little more than they are and got a little bit greedy. I made an offer on the red/gold 5L that was on craigslist last month. They were asking $1000 and I offered them $850 shipped and they refused. I never heard that they sold it. Frankly I hope they got stuck with it. I practiced with my band with my 5L for the first time Sunday and was blown away. I am glad now that I sold my SR5 and got the Rumblefish. I was a little worried making that switch, but now I am glad I did.

The blue 5-string with the racing stripe is relisted. He's come down $134 from his original BIN price. Will be interesting to see if he gets any bites. I thought we had the makings of a clear trend on pricing for used Rumblefish, but maybe not.

The price tag is huge, and I'm at a point in my life where either, A) there's no way I should even think about spending that kind of money, or B) I should pare down my collection.
The only way I could possibly make this happen would be to sell two of my 'Fish for the max price, and also sell my Franken-Fender. I'm almost positive I don't want to part with any of my 'Fish, but then I wonder if I really need three of them. The other part of the equation is, if I got the Dingwall, it would have to be my main bass, by default. One doesn't spend this much money and leave the bass at home.
What do you guys think? Three Rumblefish, or one Rumblefish and the Dingwall? Help me.

That bass haunts me as well but not so much as the 5 string will. I would vote for the single fish and dingwall option. Three 4 string jj fish are a great collection but in the end redundant. You can keep your favorite and then add some variety. Hope that helps.

And if you get sick of the dingwall maybe i can work out a trade up deal with my p-j fish
