I don't know who'd sell a Ric unless you had to for the money. They're just too cool to part with IMO.
Well, it was a straight trade for a Jetglo 4003 of the same vintage, which, while not as stunning as the maple, suits me better, and which I'll NEVER part with. They'll have to bury me with that one.
Every last one of those Rics are epic...especially the black ones.
By the way...where do you guys get all of these different kinds of Rics? I've only seen the 4003 models, and another different from those, that is, on their website.

The ones shown in that pic are some 4003's and some varieties of the 4004 model (probably the "different ones" you're talking about). There are also some 4003s5's (discontinued circa 2000), some 4001's from the late 60's and 70's, and two 2030 basses from the 80's.
RIC is currently producing the 4003, 4004Cii (gold hardware, maple/walnut/maple body), 4004L (chrome hardware, all-maple body), 4001c64 (Beatle-era McCartney reissue), and 4001c64s (Wings-era McCartney reissue).
Is it hard playing a Rickenbacker finger style? I usually anchor my thumb into the top of the pickup on my J-Bass. If the cover is taken of the Rickenbacker can I anchor into the top of the pickup?

This originally had a white pickguard and truss rod cover, but I thought I'd make a black set for a little change.
It's a 1985 4003 that I bought for $450 in '86, then sold in a moment of weakness in '91. Luckily the guy that bought it from me called me first when he decided to sell. Mine again after 17 years!
