OK, it did come from the Ric site but I found it via this web-site.

Isn't a C64S supposed to have that kind of pickup surround?
BUT, when I was installing that, the ground wire from the adjustment screw came loose from the back of the pickup, and it's not obvious just where it came from. So, is that just soldered to the back of the pickup or is there something more sophisticated that I'm not seeing.
I think you're talking about this ground wire:

Yep. No probs although the hipshot bridge does help with intonation.I will post some pics of the 2008 4003 jetglo I just received. Since I am late to this party, has anyone discussed stringing their 4003 BEAD?
I like it when they are modded with dual concentric pots as VT VT. My 4004C gets great sounds now.the 4004 is sooo much better when you convert it to V/V/T instead of the mini toggle.
Now THAT was a couple years ago!!You should post a group shot ...

Some, but not a lot. In the position away from the neck end, it is located at a harmonic, so there is a slight brightening, but not much.Off to a great start- I could spend hours looking at everyone else's Ric's, so many awesome looking basses. Not sure about the 5 string conversions, as to preference on which side the extra tuner goes- but I'm sure there's a reason to choose one side over the other. (?) edit to add- just went back to the last page of part 5, and saw all those gorgeous basses posted by Paul. Got me wondering, how different the 4004's sound with the neck pup backed off the neck some. Mine, (avatar) is an '08 with the neck pup right on the neck edge, and sounds "beefy". Does it lose that beef when backed off?
RIC is now using a ultraviolet cured conversion varnish. It's not supposed to yellow out. Pretty tough stuff but I'd be careful. If the bass is clean and print free, the Zagg should adhere, I would think. You could use naptha (lighter fluid) to clean it if you are worried. Test under the guard if you are concerned.Just closed the deal - a new used (VG condition 2 on MF) Ricky 4003FG in transit to yours truly.![]()
I don't want to scratch it all up (like my G&L L-2000 tribute), But it will be a working bass, not a wall hanger, as I gig almost every week - I plan to use it as my primary bass.
I'm a little OCD about keeping my stuff nice and have screen protectors on my iPad (Zagg) and iPhones (other brand). I was thinking about putting a Zagg shield on the back of the Ricky but read mixed comments about other similar products in other posts. I'm concerned about the applicator fluid and use on the Ricky finish. I would also be concerned if the shield would prevent any natural aging of the finish.
Has anyone tried such a thing? What kind of finish is on the new 4003s? I read that it is not nitro, poly or cv... what is it?
Feel free to PM me if preferred.
Thanks!
