yeah, they're both stock. black hardware was available from roughly the late 70s to late 80's/early 90's (not sure when they stopped doing that).

chutsk10... 'Azueglo' is a couple shades lighter than 'Midnight'.

It really looks cool on a Mapleglo... my '85 for example.

Actually, Midnight Blue is a metallic finish, and Azure isn't. If you have a metallic blue finish, it's Midnight Blue. If you don't, it's Azure. The '79 shown is obviously Azure. The black trim 4003 should be Midnight Blue. Bear in mind the formula for Midnight Blue has changed over the years too so they vary slightly, and I think the early ones had a different base coat. IIRC John Hall has said that Midnight Blue was introduced to be a "livelier" version of Azure (or words to that effect).

Here's my recently acquired '76 4001. It's a bit of project - needs work on the bridge, jackplate missing (pots date it to early '76) but otherwise not too shabby. More pics on Invalid Link Removed

This is my third 4001 ('79 Autumnglo, '82 Azureglo), but I haven't owned one for 20 years now ... feels great to rekindle that old flame.

Hello everybody. I finally get to join. I've long been a Ric bass admirer, and I've owned a 360/12 MG for several years, but I just picked up the beauty below in a trade. She's a '80 4001 in JG. I know this one won't be my last. I gotta get a 4003 in blueburst. What number does that make me?

Also, do any of you Ric guys have an extra Ric case that they'd be willing to part with? It can be a little beat up. The only bad thing about this Ric I just got is that it came with a Modulus case. Well, let me know if you've got one.
