Cool, what pickups are you using for neck and bridge?

Looks more like the tubeampology pickup bezel. That's a classy looking bass.
If you're referring to mine, that's correct...and thanks for the compliment. I can't remember the cat's name, but he was great to work with. At the time he didn't have a template for my '80, so he made a couple of prototypes for me test fit. I think the fit in the cavity is glove-tight, but the pickup hole could have been a millimeter or two smaller.
Overall, I like it...great aggressive tone.![]()
Hi vates! My son-in-law is from the Ukraine - Kharkov. Great young man!Could someone please share a walk-though of installation of Ric HB1 in place of 4003 bridge pickup? Illustrated if possible. Thank you!
A plain picture of final result will be also very appreciated![]()
Did I post this yet? My 4001FL is going to be a 3-pickup beast soon.

Here's 4003s5 modified to be like a 4001v63/4001c64s bass. It was sanded down and the edges rounded a little more than the average "s" model. The oil finish really brought out the growl in this bass.

Here's the same bass with black trim.

Hi vates! My son-in-law is from the Ukraine - Kharkov. Great young man!
The plastic bottom plate of the bridge pickup on your 4003 has holes drilled where you will need them. You remove the pickup, remove the coil from this plate, then find two standoffs the right height and long enough screws to go through the HB1, the standoff, and into the bottom plastic plate.
Once you get into the higain pickup assembly, this explanation will become more clear. I do not have pictures.
It will sound really good!
Ah, I see your problem. You will still need the chrome surround, the two height screws, the springs, and the bottom plate, though you could make one out of aluminum. That's funny: me and my band, we played in Kharkov this weekend. It was great!
Thanks for these explanations. The problem is that there's no pickup in the project body at all. So I can't really understand, what spare parts of the original higain do I need: bottom plate only (here I think any shim will do) or should I look for metal pickup ring as well? Hence my request for a photo of a finished mod. Thanks anyway
Maybe someone else who made this modification could post some pics?
