I would also like to see more options for a maple fb. I would love to see some high gloss wood grain finishes and not the type of finish on the 500. More like the 700 and some sunbursts would. Be nice

Here's my 1987 SR-885LE. I bought it new when they first came out, and it was my first 5 string. Even after building several basses for my self, I use this bass all the time. Back then it was second to the top of the line, which was the SR-05.
It's been modified over the years. I replaced the original Ibanez "Regulated Lo-Z" active pickups with EMG Js, because the original pickups were a tad noisy. Then I had an experimental 5 coil low Z pickup at the bridge for a while.
Now it sports my Neo Jazzbuckers, 2 band preamp and an aluminum Hipshot Type A bridge. Still has the original frets and tuners.
I was hoping someday they'd came out with a green burst over quilt on the 700/705 models.
I don't like that reddish brown color on the 500/505 either - that's why I got an SR600 in walnut stain instead.
How often to you folks adjust the necks on your SR's?
I have twice had to adjust mine slightly since summer began because the neck was bowing backwards (very very slightly, just enough to buzz a little on the G at the lower frets)... but then it has been an unusually hot and humid summer.

I would love to see a semi trans blue with maple like the blue on the mtd artist and heir. I seen an older sr with the p bass and j pickups last year for a good price it was an emerald green trans with gold hardware, man it was beautiful
My 750 and 605's are perfect, have only had them a few months but we have had all sorts of weather and temps
I have only adjusted my 1205 and my 800 when I change strings, which is not that often. It is not uncommon to have to adjust the neck of basses when there are wide variations in seasonal temperatures. I don't think you need to worry. Given the unusual weather, you are doing ok.
I never have to re-do neck adjustments on any of my basses once they are set up. But admittedly I don't tour any more so they are not sitting in the back of a van in the sun for hours or enduring a trek through Nebraska in the winter. They are spoiled children.

I just picked up an SR706, trans black with matching headstock and Bartolini MK-1 pups and pre. I love it, but I'm curious as to whether or not I could have it refinished to a trans green.. Any input? Thanks!

As far as I can tell it is the wood cap. Everything else looks identical to me. The 1405 has a maple cap while the 1205 has an ovankol cap.
Hello. I would like to share my SR506. Modified with a bone nut, ramp, black pickguard, a passive bypass switch and a custom designed Bass expander device for the barts mk1 preamp.

I would buy so many of those if they were real. Someone needs to email this to the Ibanez CEO.
Don't really think it's "fair" that only the lower end Ibby models (SR300, SR250, Gio models) have fun colors. I don't think I'd go for Metallic Orange/Blue/etc. on a higher end bass (it just looks cheap, IMO), but transparent finishes over figured tops would be stellar.
In other news, I'm thinking of picking up either a 5 or 6 (but preferably 5) string Ibanez because I'm possibly joining my friend's metal band, and they play in tunings like Drop B flat/C Standard etc...I don't think my four stringer would cut it (unless I set it up for higher gauge stings...which I really, really don't want to do). So, any recommendations for an Ibanez fiver? I'm looking for something potentially cheap, since I'm not sure how the band's going to work out. Metal's not my choice genre (I stick with alt/indie/punk rock and bluegrass/folk rock stuff), so I don't want to spend a ton. The guitarist (my friend) plays an Ibanez Gio (forget which model) six-stringer, so I might go that route.

If I may suggest something about the pickguard : It would look great if you let that pickguard go all the way down to the plug in for the cable, so that it also ''covers'' the control knobs.
Maybe a bit too much for your taste, but that would make your bass look really good. What you have now on it as an pickguard, looks good to but too small to be noticed 1 - 2 - 3.. You know what I'm saying?
