It's a really great bass. Ibanez has nailed the fretless sound. I could do without the fretboard line inlays can't see them from the side anyways so not sure what purpose they serve.

I did three minor modifications. More as a matter of personal preference.

1. Replaced the tuners with Gotoh res-o-lites just because I really like them. Maybe knocked 2 ounces off the headstock.
2. Replaced the knobs. The originals looked super cool but were hard to grab and turn. I'm very picky about this.
3. Knocked the front edge off the fretboard. Carefully sanded a round edge so it is more rolled than flat. Super comfortable now.

The knobs and fretboard edge are the two I would have to do again (so a $3 modification if you already have sandpaper). The original tuners were fine. Leaving well enough alone isn't a thing over here.

It's a personal preference thing I guess. The fretboard edge wasn't uncomfortable but I like more rolled vs beveled if that makes sense. I'll see if I can capture in a pic sometime this weekend.

Hypercarrots /Aidil ... Will this aftermarket nut fit on an SR? The plan is to file it to fit BEAD strings (I want to keep the stock one stock), and this is the only one I've found (at Guitar Parts Factory). Ibanez only sells blanks.

I don't think I'm the right person to answer. I've never had a 4 string SR (though I might buy a 4 string SR Mikro in near future for my 12 yo daughter who seems to have an interest in playing bass ).

It's a 2010 SR600, but I think the measurements are the same as yours. In the product description it says 38mm x 6mm, and I was mainly asking if the (9.4mm) height & (28.0mm) Overall String Spacing (center of 1 to center of 4) looked right to you?


One more question: Did you move the bridge back an 1/8" (like on a 5er) to have enough room to intonate the B properly?

Nut height is 7-8mm but you'll need to slot that anyway so as long as there's enough material on the string seat of that replacement part you're fine.
My overall spacing is around 30mm center of e(b) to center of g(d).
I didn't move the bridge. I don't remember if it intonated or not. I'm probably going back to eadg though.

I've owned 3 of the Prestige basses and 1 of the newer SR5005 series and they are amazing basses. As good as it get's for the money.

NBD ..Well Used Bass Day for me. My first five string. SRX705! Picked up used at local GC for $350! I wanted to add a fretted bass to my collection and decided that I might as well try a fiver. This bass plays great and sounds great as well!

I know they advertised SRXs as for aggressive music and I can see that, but it's so versatile that it works for me in all kinds of music. It's my Swiss Army knife bass. If I'm going to play somewhere and I don't know the situation and don't know what I'm going to need, I take the SRX.
