Hi Guys, just joined the SR club with a SR1405BE Translucent Gray. Beautiful bass. Mine is right around 8.5lbs. Coming off a Schecter Raiden Elite (both 5 string). Trying to drop the weight a bit due to neck/shoulder issues. I tried a SR505 in the local GC and it seemed lighter. What kind of weights do you guys have out there in your various models? Curious if there is a wide range within the same models. What's the best I could expect out of an SR 5 string?

sweetwater lists weights of basses they have in stock. check their website out for weights of various models.

These are the only two SR 5 string that I have:

The SR Portamento SRF705 is 3.3 kg (7 lbs 4.4 oz) and the SR Aerium SRH505 is 3.05 kg (6 lbs 11.6 oz).

Are you talking about general weights, or the weights of specific instruments? I've seen the weight in the specs (general), but they don't list it on all of them. If they have weights on specific instruments in stock, I haven't been able to find anything like that.

Ah, never mind. I was looking at basses that are incoming. On in stock they show a specific serial# and weight. It looks like the SR505s generally are a 1/2 to 3/4 pounds lighter. Not sure I want to go down from my 1405 to save that extra 1/2 pound. All the "Premium" models, seem to have another 6 to 12 oz.

My Dec' 2000 SR-405 is 8.9lbs on my cheap digital luggage scale

There's a serial number in the SDGR badge, but it doesn't follow the Ibanez formula.

Message me the serial number and I can figure it out for you. I have a thing that dates Ibanez instruments by serial number. From 89-2000 or 2001, they were one way and then changed slightly in 2001 or 2002. 1988 and older were also slightly different etc.. I have all of the info and can try and help you out.

The serial number should also be in another location on your bass and start with a letter. The letter will determine the month built. So for example, A=January B=February and so on.
The next 2 digits equal model year
The next 1 digit is model code
The last 2 digits are production number for that month.

Or on yours it could be
#51890
5=2005
1=January
8=Model Code
90=Production Number for that month.

I'm getting conflicting info because there were a few ways they did certain Prestige models.

I'll keep digging and see if I can get a definite on yours but if you have a letter and the serial number anywhere else, that may help nail it down.

thats just a pic i found by googling. happens to be from a talkbass classified but i dont own it. prestige models with the number in the SDGR headstock emblem do not have serial numbers elsewhere.
SR3006 was not made in 2005
the majority of these prestige with this serial number configuration are SR3000/5/6 and SR5000/5/6 from the late 90s to early 2000s and they are all 5digit numbers starting with 5
