right on, was just curious...I tried to search the model number and I couldn't find it
Love it. But my wallet didn't. That ibby was priced down for some reason.
Besides I'm not sure if I dig a 5 string even, never played one.
Plus the SR has two octaves and that slim neck means I won't have to wrestle strings across a tabletop with frets. I decided the Ibanez was the wise choice.
It came, I went to swap the strings and retune it in E as I need those high notes.
Tried it, just sticking the strings through the slots, it worked, all intonated I cut them to length so I can insert the ends, the very last tuner was a dud. It has no hole in the center.
And those #!&π√✓!!! Just cut the string short and left it in the slot.
I found that out putting the old strings back on.
What a scam.
So done with it now. Second Ibanez with a flaw.
My premium had a pot that had no center stop.
And that one costed me an arm and a leg.
I'm off those for the time being.
This is to be returned for a refund.
So I'm out if the club again.

I could put it on..that little hole in the center where you stick the loose end in is missing.
The slut is there. I didn't want to cut the strings straight away, do I just ran em through the slut and let the loose end stick through.
I could then tune em and if it all worked out but the strings to length.
Wasn't sure of the bridge saddle at the bottom could come forward enough hence this thing.
I usually cut them straight away.
Offcourse I could. It would kill my warranty, but there's a more pressing reason.
I was not overly impressed with the extra reach.
Be it in normal B tuning or with a high C.
Nice for chords, but in my current repertoire only a few gains.
So in a sense I had a good excuse to return it.
If I venture into that again I'll get a six string straight away.
I'd prefer a Soundgear then, cos thin necks.
But I'll get a higher end one.
And yes probably stick Gotoh on that. Had those on my premium and those are ace.

My first bass was an EX and always wanted a Soundgear. I've since become a Fender guy but plan on getting a "modern" bass in the next few months. The SR1100 is a new model, right? What did it replace? Any apparent updates from the model it replaces? I know it's not available yet buy curious if any longtime Ibanez players can tell me anything about the 1100 based on the info shown on the website. Thanks in advance.

I once was, but bought everything I wanted.
The SR1100B is totally new, hasn't displaced anything else.
I guess they thought some people might like an opaque-finish.
Ha! Good catch, my mistake. Thanks for the info about the SR. I like the opaque finish...not a big fan of the flat or crazy finishes on other models. Definitely thinking white over the seafoam green.
Yeah I'm digging the white, I'm thinking of selling my SR1405 for the SR1105B. I dig the maple board and roasted neck also.
The nordstrand pickups are killer, modern but you can get classic tones too. The passive mode on the premiums is great too
As long as you like the thin neck you can't go wrong
I would highly recommend against selling one Premium before buying another. The woods are different & the thicker poly finish might be a wet-blanket.
I made this mistake with Rickenbacker, I tried one, but bought another. They were quite different, even though they were the same model, so you can imagine between models there might be any even bigger difference.
Once I owned two SR300E that sounded wildly different, because one had a much stiffer neck than the other.
