I've been considering the SR1100B. The only date I have seen for the 4 string shows a 03/10/20 "expected ship date" and 03/11/20 for the five. Extra string, extra day.

It's a joke that never lands for folks in the U.S., but it does bug me a little when businesses choose to use the confusing NN/NN/YYYY date format.
It could be DD/MM/YYYY
To be more clear they should use an alphanumeric format: 10-Mar-20,
or the Internationally-approved 2020-03-10.

TBH, I don't think the EHB is a Soundgear.

can the end of the tracks on a A/C taper balance pot on the 2011 300 be cut to isolate the pups?
Rekon that supposed mid boost on sr300 is different from a phatII on the gsr200 basses?

here's what a blend pot looks like, electrically:

The only difference for an A/C blend is that there will be 10% of the value of Resistance instead of Zero.
Also, the only reason to cut the trace is if you want to use the blend ungrounded. When they're grounded, soloing a pickup is done by shorting the other to ground.

Welp - I went ahead and ordered the 2013 SR1400 Premium I was looking at, but found out that the pre has been replaced with another stock pre because the original one failed. Has anyone heard of SR Premium pre-amps failing?

It's very possible, it's just components on a board, you could even destroy one by accident if you weren't careful in there.
You're not missing anything, their pre-amps aren't very good IME. I leave mine passive 97% of the time.
TBH I wish it were 100% passive.

How about 2011-ish sr300 style sweeper pre, are they not the greatest either?

My SR400 & SR405 both have the style sweeper, and I've grown a real distaste for that EQ system. I could never get the sound I like - not like the ones with a 3-band EQ. I'm going to sell the SR405, but keep the SR400 because I really like the Cherry Burst finish.

I find Ibanez EQ generally useless, maybe on the Prestige it's alright, never got to try one.
What I wish they would do is something completely passive & use series/parallel switching.

The one I really really don't like is the Phat-II, mud city!

Maybe i'll borrow the pre out of my L-2000 and test it in this ibby if i ever get really bored. Not sure if these cap efx pups (i think they are called) are splittable though.

Wish i had a bad pup i could cut open to see whats inside, am wondering how far away the poles or railz are from that radiused plastic cover

Her is my SR305EB WK .. sounds great in humbucking and single coil mode. buh in power tap mode, it seems to give a tone I can't use at the moment. In humbucking mode, it's aggressive and a lil diffused. Did an experiment by rotating the pickups and now it still sounds aggressive buh more focused than the initial pickup position. The single coil mode are now closer to the bridge and gives a distinct sound totally different from a jazz bass...

Good question. To my ears, the stock EQ (...coupled with Nordstrand humbuckers) has a baked-in character which sits in the foreground irrespective of settings. It's not necessarily a bad thing but certainly not as flexible as I'd like. Rolling-off the active treble to 25% helps a bit. Note: the passive mode on this older 1405 does not have the tone control option.

That being said, I've had good luck with Audere preamps in the past.
