The Spaceman Club

The x1 has arrived. I got number 10/10. trying it on both my guitar and bass boards.

My initial thoughts:
-On guitar it sounds like a warm tone bender. Really fat sounding fuzz/distortion
-Sounds really good on bass. No no low end loss, but maybe a smidge too wooly. The no clipping diode option gives it a little more top end than the diode which warms things up even more.

Ok. This is it. I do not understand the lack of interest for these effects. I decided to go all in.

tl;dr Saturn VI with top jacks!
Let me share my positive experience with Rogue Rehousing, it may be of interest to some here. I really liked my Saturn VI, but its side jacks always annoyed me. Since all my 125B pedals have top jacks and power, the S6 was sadly often in the drawer rather than on the pedalboard. For long I was secretly hoping Spaceman Effects would rethink their lineup with top jacks and power, in vain. Then I heard of Rogue Rehousing on TB. Got curious, emailed Zach about what he could do. He's super friendly, communication was great. After some exchange, and me sharing gut shots of the S6, he confirmed he could relocate the jacks and power to the top of a new enclosure. A few weeks later here is what I have:

The neat anonymous design is the cherry on the cake. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love my Saturn VI and it's one of two pedals I use for my standard tone (I alternate between that and another "other" pedal, mostly based on whim). If I had to find anything less than positive to say about it, the only thing I could come up with is the side jacks.

That's pretty cool.

I would love to see a gut shot, please.

CME (accidentally) leaked it . TGP has a thread on it for those wanting spoilers.

I do wonder what's brewing in their last IG post though.
Thanks. That's not the first time CME spills the beans before a Spaceman release, right? I wonder if that's a planned strategy. You know, for more links pointing to their page because of the pre-release talk, and thus getting higher up in Google searches than competing stores.

Definitely not the first time and stinks for the other retailers. Takes the surprise out of the drop. That said, I’m curious how much different this one sounds than the <no spoiler here>

I definitely go to TGP the day before when there's a Spaceman release  There seems to be a trend

Looks like this new pedal is a ge/se hybrid fuzz call the Charon. I’m thinking it’s based off the x1 limited release they did, but removed the diode switch and added a tone control.

I owned the x1 and felt the diode switch was super subtle and I really wished it had a tone control, so this solves both of my issues with that pedal. Might be cool to check one of these out.

Looks like the leak says the tone control just cuts the bass side and doesn't seem to affect the treble. Do you feel that kind of tone control would have helped the X1 on bass?

yes, it was kind of boomy and muffled to an extent. Rolling off bass just a little would have been great.
