Got a Charon on the way.

Received it yesterday, finally fired it up today for about 15-20 minutes with two different basses.
A Tribute L-2000, and a Rickenbacker.

The Charon is a very tasty sounding fuzz.
Will need to spend more time with it, but right out the gate, it's a keeper.

One interesting tidbit, is that there's no sound with the gain all the way down.

yes, it was kind of boomy and muffled to an extent. Rolling off bass just a little would have been great.

Had a chance to use the Charon today.
Bass cut is absolutely useful in tightening up the lows and keeping things from getting too "flabby"
For lack of a better term.

I'm interested in how it works for you.

For me, I typically stick with low gain OD tones.
Fuzz wise, this one is perfect for me.

Solid highs and mids,
Low-end is massive, and the low-cut tone control is very useful without it becoming too thin (unless you crank it)
Settings below noon are the perfect range for me WRT low-cut.

Voicing/flavor.

I own the Saturn VI, and Redstone.
Had an Apollo VII.

The Ge/Si blend is apparent to those who are familiar with those type of dirt pedals.

To my ears, you get the tight, compressed nature of silicone, with the open midrange, and high end "crackle" of germanium.

It doesn't replace my Saturn for what it brings,
The redstone is unique.
It has a flavor that stands on its own.

No- that’ll be a work in progress- i’m still figuring out the pedals individually. Im selling a house right now, so haven’t had any time whatsoever. Ive got another board, and a crazy amount of unauditioned pedals to figure out as well.

Sounds good you may want to try spaceman first if it's always on, it's a great pedal to make all your other pedals sound great. If not put the EQ first then the Saturn, the EQ will help drive the remainder pedal, phaser last if you don't have any reverb, after EQ I would do Octaver then envelope filter into fuzz or dust..

Hey guys, a question after a preamble.
Current board:
Strobostomp HD
SA Gemini
DG Harmonic Booster
MXR M81.

I just realized that for the first time in a while I have nothing to add any non-clean fun.
I've previously had a Tech 21 Programmable BDDI, but hadn't used it in years, so sold it off.
Next was a DG AOU, but only found one setting I really liked, so sold it to fund other stuff.
Then I tried a DG VMT, but again, just didn't quite jive with it. (Maybe I didn't give it enough time?)

Probably the most aggressive I would use a drive for would be something like The Camera Eye, but I am also looking for a subtle...something...to be on most of the time for rock and metal. That kind of ..you don't quite know what it is, but you miss it when it's gone.
Would the Saturn VI do this?

Both the DG HB and the Saturn VI are, "Harmonic Boosters", but from clips, they seem to be different beasts, so I don't think they'd step on each others toes...?

I think the Saturn VI does that well. You can use the Boost side for the level of subtle warmth you want and bring up the Drive to get the amount of dirt you want. I have a bigger board and a smaller board and the Saturn VI is the always-on pedal on my bigger board. We play classic rock and blues so dirt needs are pretty subtle, but the Saturn VI is a great fit for me. Not sure how well it would do if you want a dirty drive for metal.

Whether or not it overlaps with the Darkglass, I couldn't tell you. I never used the Darkglass. That being said, Darkglass seems to have built their brand around harder rock and metal so, if you need more drive, that one might fit better?

Yeah, the Dark Glass Harmonic Booster is actually a clean preamp that I basically use as a eq boost, so that was why I was thinking the Saturn VI would act as my growl/agression when increasing the drive.

If I get a Saturn VI, I will try the DG HB in front of and behind the Saturn to see how differently that sounds
