okay, folks - whether mods okay this thread to become the official squier mini precision club thread or whether we start one, let's get some membership numbers going. who wants a number?

Solo music has a 28.5 scale p bass kit, complete with tort pickgaurd.
I wonder if they can source the pickgaurds?

How many of us have one of these wee beasties? I'm guessing at least 10, maybe even 2 dozen. @Frank Vozak mentioned in another thread that there's probably enough of us to make it a club, so to speak, if we so desire.

Does TB need another club? Specifically, a Squier Mini P club?

Should this thread become The Squier Mini Precision Bass Club? I'm sure the mods could/would edit the title. I don't want to be responsible. Someone else can do the grunt work: assign numbers and such. If you want it, pick up the ball and run with it. Good luck! Godspeed!

Seriously though, I would have ordered [and received] a red one al-RED-dy, if these had been what Fender says they are.

In that regard, I should be allowed to join.

[Dave wonders whether a Squire Bronco Maple neck could be Franken-joined to the body of a Squier Mini P bass, and how far off the bridge adjustment would be if we could at least match the neck pocket and such.

If it could, it might solve two issues while possibly creating one other, more manageable problem, like moving a bridge.

JTB-40 3/4 Size P-Style Electric Bass Guitar | Jay Turser

So I will need to depend on folks here all the more to tell me about their JTB-40 basses, please, and especially from folks like you, because you also have a Squier Mini P for comparison.

Has anyone seen the JTB-40 with a Maple fretboard, such as shown here ?

This next site is the only one to tell me the scale length, and it says that it is 25.5" - is that an error ? - I thought that you said that these are 30" scale.

Never seen a JTB40 in 25.5" scale and never seen one with a maple fretboard. And I've seen quite a few. If I had to guess, I'd say that website mistakenly used a photo of a JTB-400, which looks the same, but is a 34" scale and available with a Maple board as the 400M model.
As for the scale length, I guess Fender isn't the only company that gets their specs wrong!
It's been said and appears to be truer than ever - The best way to buy a bass is to try it out yourself.

These ones have a Maple fretboard !

I messaged them to learn about the nut width, net weight, and the strings type and individual gauges.

Will update with what they tell me.

This is an unbelievable find, assuming that 28.5" scale spec is accurate.

If that can be purchased in the U.S., I am - ALL OVER THAT.
