For those of you thinking about improvements:

The tuner upgrade really made a big difference. Out of the box, the stock tuners look nice and Seem to perform decently, but it has made a very big difference upgrading mine to Gotoh 7070 compact tuners. They are very light, look great, and, increased gear ratio makes a very big difference, in my opinion.

i can't remember if you mentioned this before, but are they drop-ins?

i took mine off as soon as i decided my mini P was a keeper.

Absolutely a drop in - down to the alignment of the screw. Dropped in effortlessly.

I always do as well. As soon as I know it is staying, I have to get all the stickers off.
I asked because I have seen a few different people here post pics with their pickguard stickers.

I don't feel like it is mine until I rip all stickers off and do Something to it.

Yes! It’s already off. The pic is from before I decided to keep it! I’ve also replaced the strings with GHS precision flats. I’m pretty sure I will eventually replace the p/up with the EMG GZR as I did with the affinity in the pic. Also thinking of making it a string through to allow more string selection. Played for 3 hours with the band yesterday and they were well impressed with the large sound from such a small package

They look to have answered most of my questions without me asking, regarding the instrument itself.
Just have to investigate the shipping choices into Canada, and associated cost.
UPDATE : It is close to $90 US by using UPS 'Expedited' service, for the seller's lowest priced shipping choice to Canada, which is similar to [actually more than] buying a single bass [including the Squier Mini P and others] from Thomann in Germany, as mentioned upthread.

That much shipping cost often negates the apparent saving offered by some sellers, making it a better deal to buy [if buying one at a time of] whatever instrument from a source inside of one's own country, in my instance, Canada.

BTW, for not much more money than the above-linked model, this seller offers a bass which is similar to the recently disco'd Squier Short Scale Jaguar series.

Has anyone had the neck off their Squier Mini P ?

Does anyone know the dimensions of the body end of the neck, and of the neck pocket in the body, and does everything look clean enough in there ?

I'm considering the possibility of putting a different neck onto a Squier Mini P, and knowing this info would be the first step toward finding candidates.

Got some more done on my neck this afternoon. I added the Luminlay side dots. Its a bit hard on the fingers using a mini hand drill but its more safe than taking a drill to the original side dots. It just takes more time

Researching Strats and Teles, it appears that their neck pockets are roughly the same size as the Mini. I believe you can slap a Mini P neck onto a Strat (or vice versa), relocate/replace the bridge, and you'd be good to go.

A Mini P length is within 1cm of a Strat. A Mini P fits a Strat case like it was made for it. It wouldn't surprise me if Mini P necks were simply Strat necks with different borings on the plate. That would certainly keep costs down.

This is all theoretical. Used Strats are dirt cheap, and I'm looking for for one in a cool colour already, but another Mini P to play with would be stretching my finances to the breaking point.

Yes, I fully agree that keeping costs down is something to which a manufacturer would be paying attention.

As always, follow the money....

And I think that someone else had asked upthread about cases for a mini P, but had not learned the answer yet.
