Maybe like us, you'll finally hold one and will have an epiphany about enjoying and adapting to new challenges: sloppier strings, nut size and whatnot, and will realize this bass has a soul. It does in a way it is boomier than a regular bass I feel and it is fun to play off that. I would hate for this thing to sound like a regular bass after all.
You went over all the measurements, specs, options, possible mods, but you haven't gotten the darn thing in you hands and have yet missed on the main enjoyment of playing your favorite lines on it, you know what to do mah dude.
I heard there are still single digits available in this club...

Thanks Dave! My Bass is still apart.. I have most of my parts except USPS seems to have lost my Nordstrand Blade P pickup ( hope they find soon) and I am waiting on a Zebra Wood pickguard that should be here by the end of the week or Monday..My friend found a guy On ETSY that he sent his pickguard to so he will have a template if ours turns out good..Here is his ETSY store for anyone that might want a custom wood pickguard..He is only charging $64 -$69..Not bad. He doesn't have them up on his page but I'm sure anyone can message him about it. :thumbsup:

Well, dang! We're already into double digits!

I have a set of Tonerider TRP1s that have been sitting around for over a year now, and I'm debating putting them on Li'l Red. But, I'm very happy with Li'l Red's sound as is.

Then I thought about putting them on Blue Belle, the Gear4music shorty P with flats. Same story.

I'm still undecided what to do with them.

Been playing my Mini P a lot lately and feel I should update my first impressions. Although the neck is narrower than I would prefer, I have become very used to it and now like it quite a bit. I now find it to be a very fast neck and super easy to play.
I've dialed in a tone that I am very happy with - and this is with the stock strings. I've ordered a set of Chromes, will install them when they arrive and then take it out for its first gig. I'll post a couple of pics and an update once I play it out.

ironically i still find the neck just a little chunky, and i can't play as fast on it as on any of my ibanez basses or my bronco or mustang.

can't wait to hear how you like it on a gig!

If I had my 'druthers', Santa :D , I would ask for a solid body 30" scale bass, weighing 6 pounds or less, hum-cancelling pickup(s), with a nut width of between 1.625" and 1.6875" (1 5/8" and 1 11/16") [41mm and 43mm], which is the range from that of most full size modern Fender Precisions through to my Ric 4001 (and I think also a current Ric 4003 as well).

My Hofner Ignition Club bass is about 1.65" at the nut.

Some of the other short [30"] scale 'wanna-P' basses discussed upthread [and owned by posters here] have about a 1.625" nut width, such as the Harley Benton and the Jay Turser JTB-40.

The current production of the Hofner Shorty solid body bass has a neck very much like that of my Ignition Club.

All of these basses [and a few others] are on my 'short'-list.

I've been playing my Mini P and Nordstrand Acinonyx exclusively as of late. Picked up a "real bass" the other day for the first time in months and was playing everything wrong - almost couldn't play the darn thing. My muscle memory had temporarily evaporated and I had to ask myself....do I really NEED anything longer than a 28"-30" scale?!?! :D

To be fair, my full size P does "drop D" much better than any of my shortys, including the Mini P. Another Brick In The Wall, for example.... that opening 2 measure DOOM! sounds wonderful on the bass in my avatar. The shortys do OK with "drop D", and can handle it, but it just sounds better on the full size w/flats.

I haven't tried it on my Bronco yet, which is also strung w/flats, so this may be string related.
