I lucked out with the nut. I scored it with a blade, and then it came right out easily and cleanly with some pliers. Replacement graphite nut was an absolute perfect fit.

I ordered one, and some glue. Never replaced a nut. Good time to learn. :thumbsup:

Be careful with the glue. Can't remember if you were part of the previous dialog or not, but - you want to go very light with any type of glue. If using wood glue, just the slightest little bit to keep it in place - so that you can get it out if you need to. Some recommend something like regular Elmers - because it will hold it, but be easy to break out.

Right now, mine has No glue. I was looking for fit. Now that I know I've got a good fit, I will use a drop of regular Elmers, not even wood glue.

The Mojotone nut was astonishingly perfect.

For whatever it is worth: I see a difference in tuning behavior with that nice, smooth, graphite nut. The strings slides over it more consistently and gradually than the stock nut.

If anyone has found a drop-in replacement for other items, let's keep a list. So far, I have:

Squier Mini P Drop-in replacements:

- Gotoh GB707 Compact Tuners
- Mojotone 2114224 Black Graphite 4 String Bass Nut (1-1/2''x 1/8'')

Some of you may have found non-drill drop ins for - bridge, and, for pickup. Let's assemble it all in a list. K? :)

Don't remember if I ever said this here, but - I have 2 of these. ;)

Couldn't help it. I'm enjoying it too much, and when bass gigging returns to my life, I'm using This bass.
I have a bit of an OCD thing about that, and when I decide I am using a certain piece of gear for gigging, I need 2 of them.

PCake, maybe I should get a "+" next to my name in the club list - for having 2. ;)

Very cool. I had a strong feeling you would really like this bass. It seems to be a nice balance between regular short scales and sub shorties.

Any P pickup will fit, they're universally sized. I've never had one where the screw-ears weren't in the exact same positions. Any Fender-mount 5 hole bridge (some only have 3 holes but they match the two outer and center) will also fit. Hipshot, Wilkinson, Schaller, et al.

The bridge from a newer CV will drop in. The older, high mass style bridges have different hole centers and string spacing.

I’m going to replace the original pickup with an EMG GZR as soon as I can finance it. I did this in my modified squier affinity p and it sounds amazing

I'm thinking about these, but I'm happy with my Mini P's sound as is...

I've had these sitting around for over a year. I was originally going to put them on my HB Shorty, but the Shorty uses a non standard size, so nothing ever came of it.
