The Status homepage now states that ALL the stock basses are sold except for the left S2. I am wondering if it might be possible for Rob to convert it to headless?? Also, hasn't the exchange rate gotten better for the US dollar??
I have a feeling there's a 0% chance that Rob would consider converting that bass to headless.

I'm seriously passionated about Status basses since thought ten years. In approx. 2 weeks I will find my self in the lucky position to get my hands on a stealth-4 in mint (or at least near mint) condition for € 900,- it feels like a steal at that price.
Any thoughts from some experienced status owners on things to check out before I pull the trigger?

Other than the obvious (condition, chips, cracks , electronics function etc. ,
check the year of manufacture
See if it has a truss rod
and although warps are somewhat rare, it can happen so find out about neck straightness
Other than that, seems like quite a find

If you'll allow me a follow up question: Regarding the year of manufacture, is there a better or worse period in the production of these jewels?
on the face of it sounds like a bit more than just a steal....does the seller have any idea what they are actually selling here?
I somewhat doubt it. The seller inherited a bunch of stuff including a musicman which he sold for €1300 and this status that he offered for said amount. I have a feeling he somehow made an educated guess and set prices a bit low to get them of his hands.
One things for certain, this'll be my (perhaps only) chance to become a very lucky Status owner.
I managed to get a hold of some pictures and I think I have to rephrase the 'mint or at least near mint condition' part of my first post about this bass. The seller stated that it's well maintained and that can be true, still it seems to have seen a couple of gigs and road-trips.
It's a stealth I (90's issue) without truss rod. Case is not included. I notice some issues or an awful lot of grease (I sincerely hope it's grease) on the paint near the neck, a pretty tough dent on one of the wings and the frets pro'lly need some work.
I'm still inclined on buying her IF and only if is she's worth the price. I'm finding it hard to have a clear mind on this since I would love to have a grade A bass in my arsenal. Having a status is something that would seem waaaaay out of my league financially so my emotions may have the better of me here.
So what do you guys think, is this still worth €900,- if it's technically a sound bass.

I've owned two stealths , a95 and a 2013. The older one was heavier but sounded better

The pictures are pretty terrible quality so I don't really see what the issues are that you're referring to, can you please point out what are the problems this bass? from these photos it looks pretty good to me.
€900 Seems to be 50% to a third of the value of the instrument, what am I missing here?

considering these basses are no longer being made you will never lose out by buying at this low price point ...Also you won't have to worry about putting in that first ding, it's a players bass. i would just get it now, you can always flip it later towards something more mint. just make sure it plays ok.
Considering your worthy advice I will take certainly take the 2 hour drive and inspect it more closely.
The thing that worried me a bit is that it seems like there something wrong with the finish near the neck joint or that it's pretty greasy over there. The pictures don't make it clear so I'll just ask the seller about it.

Well she's in and I must be one lucky son of a sailors wench here! Unbelievable!!
No dings, only some minor scratches here and there which considering the age where really minor. I was so relieved to notice no dings or issues with the finish considering my paranoia before. Only thing that stood out when I went to pick it up was that it was completely dead…..No sound at all!
A fresh battery didn't do nothing so it put a little bit of risk on the purchase. I wasn't gonna back off from buying her nonetheless but the seller promptly dropped the price to € 750,- The seller once again proved he had no idea of the worth of the thing even if the board was fried! He made clear he didn't wanna get rich from it
So I took the lady with me, cleaned the pots, went to town with some polish and fiddled around with the battery slot and tada! Wires were dangling loose over there. 2 tips of solder and she purred like a mature kitten again. One of the battery cables has a break in it so I'm gonna get that replaced tomorrow but holy moly I'm one happy toddler with too much luck. Makes me afraid of the karma lurking around the corner somewhere.
