I wouldn't have either. I have the base's controls centered and just a slight bass boost on the amp. It may be the D800's headphone output. I'm looking forward to trying it live, probably next month.

All of the graphite necks I have had (status, steinberger, modulus, zon, Moses, etc) had a brightness to them. Yes, I could get great lows and mids too, but that brightness aspect was still there. I think it is more the fretboard than the neck itself. It's not a negative, it just is....

Dug this one up from a local shop that took in a big collection of oddball and boutique stuff. Energy? Matrix? Energy Matrix? Not sure what differentiates these older, more stripped-down models.
Neck is lightning fast! Slap machine as you'd expect. The "tone" control seems to be doing nothing, though, not sure if it's meant to be a standard tone control or do something more. There's a small board attached to the volume pot, but it looks too simple to be much more than a buffer.

I just ordered a 2022 T-Bass from Bass Direct. Can anyone tell me anything about this run of basses? Can't find too much information online.

Status Graphite. The finest hand-made graphite basses and guitars. Made in England.
It's basically a Status branded and graphite necked version of the earlier Trace Elliot T Bass.
I have a first run (#0xx) Trace T-Bass that I can tell you about. Trace Elliot was THE bass rig at the time, they were everywhere, and they decided to make their own bass. Modern Vintage was the target, so a super slick maple neck with an exercise in geometry for a headstock and super hot modern pickups with a pre which can be bypassed. It is very versatile and easy to play.

Mark King was using T-Basses around 2018. Definitely a bit beefier sounding than his Kingbasses.
Gosh, I really wish Status starts taking custom orders again. 6 string CF neck headless with LED is smth I really want to buy.
I suspect that Rob's carbon fibre days are over. It can't be a coincidence that he's been building strictly wooden necks since getting past his health issues.
