Quick SBVT question for those that would be interested in the pedal when it's ready:

As I mentioned I was tossing around the idea of adding a cabsim to the pedal. This adds extra complexity both to the design and to the assembly and therefore an additional cost, most likely $75-100. Would having a cabsim be worth the extra $75-100 on the pricetag, or is it one of those things you're happy to do without and would rather have a lower price on the pedal?

Would like to have if it is switchable on/off.

Cab sims are the devil’s work.

Any info on the basic details of the single slice? Type of compression, likely controls etc? I stopped using my markbass compressore much because it just takes up too much room, if the single slice can be a smaller alternative that sounds at least as good then I'm all in.
Sorry I missed this earlier. The current version of Single Slice is VCA compression, likely controls are input gain, output gain, attack, and sustain.

Speaking of amps in a box: @Sushi Box FX how far down the development road make is the Fire Box these days? Would you ever consider making a very low wattage tube bass tube amp?
Fire Box is still on the list, but not being actively developed at the moment. I would consider a low wattage bass amp, but I would have to be convinced. I don't particularly enjoy building amps.

Switchable would certainly be how I would want it, but being able to turn it off means the circuit is still in there, so it's going to be adding to the price. I'll think about it some more.

Maybe I'll do a prototype of just the preamp itself then run it through an external cabsim and see how worthwhile I think the cabsim is. I was considering running a prototype of just the preamp anyway, this gives me a good reason to do it.

I agree with @darev, it wouldn't be worth the extra cost for me.

So now that I'm working on the layout for SBVT II it looks like I don't have room for the cabsim unless I go to a bigger enclosure than I want. So SBVT II probably won't have a cabsim.

If 100 of $ are going toward a cab sim I would rather have a dedicated unit, other than on my stomp i've not really used cab sims in my rig (DAW is a different matter) but a quick squizz on sweet water and a 140 gets you in the door.

It would an awesome feature to have, but i'd personally place more value in a "loop" post preamp pre DI, coz that's we'd i want to stick a cab sim (or More for that matter).

Awesome on the Firebox, the project it will be for is well down the line atm, it's an exciting product.

Likewise with the low watt power amp, it's a ways down the line and wouldn't get anyone to do something they don't enjoy. :)

This is the answer (I have no idea if that'd be cheaper or possible to work into the circuit but it sounds nice!)
Effects loop is definitely cheaper and easier to work into a circuit than a cabsim. I'll see what I can do.

I tend to prefer a HPF+LPF over an IR cabsim. I'd pay an extra $100 for that.

How can I ship a sushibox pedal Nathan if there are no shipping options on your site. I'm currently in the Philippines.
Sorry about that, I'll get Philippines added to my shipping list and let you know when it's ready to go. I have to add countries one at a time so I generally don't add things until people ask for them. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I’ve asked about the Finally before on here, but I’ve been checking out some of the other tube DI pedals as well. I’m curious what the major differences are between the Finally and the UA.

Is the UA basically the Finally with a switchable EQ? I assume they’re most likely flavored a little differently, but are they that different? Or would the Slampegg be the way to go?

Currently running the OE BassRig SV with no cabsim at the end of my chain, but want to try an actual tube DI.

Yes Finally is just a UA without the eq, with an added HPF and DI. The introduction of Finally led to discontinuation of the Space Heater, which was a UA without eq and no DI.

Are they little Russian soldiers under those two tin hats ?
The transistors look like NOS with that body style.
Germanium ?
They are indeed NOS germanium transistors of the soviet variety. A friend gave me a killer deal on a large box of them, so I designed a neat circuit around them and am planning to do a limited run of them for October/spooky season.
