As far as securely gripping tubes is concerned, good ol' rubber gloves are fine. but that said, I have never needed anything other than my naked fingers....and for all the talk about not getting grease/oil on tubes, I haven't had any tube failures because of it.

Tubes dont get near hot enough for it to matter. Arc lamps in movers conventional lamps in lekos will definitely belly or blow up, I wonder if that's where the "dont touch tubes" folk lore comes from.
A more common example of "don't touch" is automotive halogen headlight bulbs. My understanding is that even a small trace of skin oil will quickly burn brown and permanently dim the bulb.
I have a vague memory that keeping tubes clean is important for very high power tubes (think big radio transmitters) that normally run very hot, and thermal stress from a dark smudge can crack the envelope.

This is what I'm running right now. The sbvt ii is killer. Super fat and punchy. Don't mind the ugliness of the board

Posting to see if I can get some help. My sbvt ii stopped working. I can't get any sound out of the 1/4 or di. Plugged in to the pedal before and everything is fine. Anyone else had any issues? I'm running it off of the crux. It's been working great the last week. Even a couple of hours ago it was fine.
Anytime there is a situation like this, I would advocate for owners to contact Nathan directly. He builds Sushi Box FX and it's the same as for any other bass gear manufacturer. Start with the company. Nathan is terrific with working with his owners.
Shoot me an email or a PM, we'll get it figured out. The Crux is a reliable supply and should be perfect for the SBVT II, so that shouldn't have been an issue.
I'm not down talking the sbvt ii one bit. It's an amazing pedal. I've gone through 4 different svt type pedals and this is the one that nails it! I own 4 of his pedals and not once have I had an issue. I just wasn't sure if I had done something to mess it up or if someone else had a similar issue. I'll send Nathan an email!
Want to know what is super fun? Running the SBVT II into a PJB Nanobass X4C. It is ridiculously meaty and full sounding, all obvious limitations considered. Nicely done. I'm very impressed so far.
I had my first hour or so of messing at low volume with the SBVT II. Sounds pretty good so far. EQ is nice, although I don't know if I will find a use for the Ultra Hi or Ultra Lo, but that was the case with my SVT also. I'm trying for a clean, full, open sound, somewhat aggressive with just a bit of metallic clank so I can hear the string windings. I'm getting close to what I want with just the pedal.
I generally run a Cali76 Bass Comp to bring the attack and add definition. What do you think, SVT II before or after the comp?

I don't have the SBVT or the Cali, but it seems the usual factors should apply: comp after for best touch sensitivity if you want it.....comp 1st for most consistent sound/tone/vol if that's the priority.
I was listening to some vids from a performance earlier this summer, at which I was using my plugless board; which has Tech21 BDDI V1. I was impressed at how well that old pre/DI was capturing the elements of the SVT that have been a happy spot for me. Of course, that pedal is solid state; and so, misses some of the bloom characteristics.
Got me to thinking that possibly a More in front of a BDDI V1 might be pretty impressive. Anyone ever tried that config?
I realize the SBVT II is shooting for some of the same space. An A/B of More + BDDI V1 vs SBVTII could be VERY interesting. I suspect the latter might excel at better controlled distortion; but, I never used that aspect of the SVT.

The MORE is a fantastic pedal. I can't sing its praises enough.
Just took the sbvt II on its maiden first voyage. Sounded incredible!! 3hrs off playing between the pre and dry sound with a stingray special. 
Anyone have a video showing the tone of the SBVT? I’m looking for a tone similar J.T. Cure’s and wondering which Sushi Box to get.
To be more specific… I am really drawn to the clean fat tone similar to the vintage stuff. I mostly play country and love Chris Stapleton bass player’s (JT Cure) tone. I’m using the HX Stomp and I just want to add some tube fullness. I know the Grand Slampegg is the B15 and the SBVT is the SVT so I guess my question is, is the SVT a thicker fatter sound than the B15 when used clean.
I have watched every YouTube video related to Sushi Box FX but I haven’t seen anything with the SBVT 2. Any recommendations on which Sushi Box I should get is appreciated.
The grand slampegg does the clean fat thing brilliantly, that's exactly what I use it for.
I don't have an sbvt (yet) so I can't compare, but I've never found the GS to be wanting in the fatness department.
