For those of you with dough to spare a NOS - Mullard EF86 is available for 85 $ on Etsy and 5 of them can be bought off eBay for 95$ - perhaps a group buy could be arranged once we know what brand is preferred - down the road so to speak ? Various brands are available at Tube Depot for 79 $ per . No way it’ s a cheap “ rolling “ experience - but the search for “ tone “ rarely is . On one hand the good Senor is helping though with his reasonable pricing - on the other hand he is hurting too with his proclivity to put out so many interesting pedals !!!!! .....Kelly

QQ to Mr @Sushi Box FX (hope this hasn't already been covered, I've been following this thread for the past 3-4 months and I don't think so...) what kind of tone stack is used in Sunnday Drive? If I could make a suggestion, this might be good info to include in the product descriptions on your website.

The batch of Amperex and Mullard was 5 tubes and went for $130, the batch of 5 Mullards are asking $23 shipping. Not a terrible price if they were tested, but for untested tubes that's a gamble in my book (just sent the seller an offer). Mullard, Amperex "Bugle Boy" and Telefunken are among the most highly regarded for sound, and my experience lines up with that. I also have had great experience with GE (especially British made) and RCA, which are generally more common for things like 12AX7 but less common for EF86 apparently.
Development is always the most fun thing for me, which is why I'm constantly churning out new models, but I'm starting to feel like I may need to take a break from development for a bit and focus on my manufacturing process, to see what I can improve and streamline. I love bringing out new models, but I would also love for people to not have to wait 3 months to get a pedal. I know it's not as long as some brands (I understand Analogman is up to 3 years right now) but I'm still just a dude in a basement building on my free time, you shouldn't have to wait forever to get a pedal. So I'm planning to finish up the X Series designs (Black Eye and Sunnday Drive are the only ones left to do) then probably take a development break for a while and try to figure out some production stuff.
Sunnday Drive is the Sunn Model T preamp, which uses a Fender-style tone stack. The values are obviously different than typical fender preamps, but the organization of the components is 100% the same.
The eBay seller with the five Mullard EF86 just accepted my offer, I guess I'll be trying those out.

Once the next batch of pre-order slots are opened up, select the pedal you're after and it'll get built in the month you bought for, and delivered early the next month. @Sushi Box FX has been making lots of small changes lately in order to streamline production, which translates into fewer options (ie no more custom colour choices), but more slots available each month.
March slots sold out a week or two ago, so April build slots should be opening up soon.
You'll also have to decide if you want the mini tube version, or 12AX7 (X Series) version. Slight difference in tone, power requirements etc.

@NKBassman and @macmanlou nailed it, I've tried to make it easier (and @Sonicblaze actually did the website work that made it easier) but since this isn't my full-time job I limit how many builds I do a month. You can tell your friend that I'm planning to open up ordering for the April batch this weekend, I just want to get some stuff sorted out for the website first. If you haven't already you can go to the website and sign up for the mailing list, I'll send out an email when I open up the new batch of orders. I post regular updates here as well, and I'll definitely post in this thread when April ordering is ready.
EF86s are so cool looking, you should add a glass panel or more cutout area to showcase it.

That could be a recipe for disaster. Exposed tubes are really cool looking, though.
They are, but part of why my price is so much lower than Edison is because of the low amount of labor. Adding in the extra effort for a window would bring the cost up and make me enjoy it less

Until I got into the mini tubes all my tube builds had the tube sticking out the top like a hot rod Camaro, and it looked cool, but having a piece of glass close to stomping feet is a recipe for disaster. I like the way I've been doing it with the X Series onward; it's not super easy to swap tubes, but it's doable, and everything is safe. There's no risk of anyone stepping on the tube, or setting an amp on top of your pedalboard in the back of a van and crushing the tube, or just dropping it and breaking the tube. Sure it's less visible, but it's safe and it sounds the same, and at the end of the day that's what it's about
So this is me not knowing much about EF86 tubes... They aren't swappable with a 12AX7, are they? Like... Maybe since EF86s are getting harder to find (and having to sub in the 6J32P), what about a Westinghouse created with a 12A*7?
I'm waiting on the clips to make a final decision between the Westinghouse and Space Heater, but I'm thinking the Westinghouse is the way to go at the moment. I might be up for trying the upgrade to the Mullard EF86 as well, if they're not all spoken for already.
