The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

can we expect the next slots to open up at the beginning of December?
Yeah I think late November or early December is a safe bet. I'm trying to finish the November batch of builds a little early so I have more time to dedicated solely to verifying the new designs, and once that's done I'll open up March ordering.

Just arrived

Just a heads up, I’m going to post my PA w/ side jacks to the classifieds in the next hour. A picture of it can be seen in the first post of the thread. PM me if interested. I’m only getting rid of it because I found one with top jacks. Top jack snob ftw!
Wow..sold in 3 minutes!

Broughton status... ACHIEVED. lol

Except that people are buying Sushi Box pedals because they sound great....not just because they say "Sushi Box" on them.
You people are doing unhealthy things for my ego :P

So the circuit boards for X Series and Deep Dish Compressor were supposed to be here today, but I got a "partial delivery" so I got the solder stencils and no boards :( should be here Monday though.

I ran the numbers on costs, and with my estimates on labor the X Series pedals will be $200 each, and Deep Dish will be $300.

Also my Noble is scheduled to be here tomorrow, so I should be able to report on that before long.

Hmmm. Mini tube pedals are cheaper and mini tube lasts essentially forever....mini tube pedals please

Yeah I don't have any plans to stop using mini tubes (after I've verified Deep Dish I want to take a whack at a mini tube Deep Dish, see how that would sound), but I've had enough people interested in 12AX7 options, so I figured I'd give a few a try. I guess for the fancy tube-rollers out there I could discount them if you want them shipped without a tube? I don't know.

I like tube rolling.
You do seem like the type ;) I enjoy it as well, but I usually go until I find a tube I like and leave it. My current amp used to have all JJ in the preamp and Sovtek in the power amp, now I have a combination of Raytheon, Amperex, and Tung-Sol in the preamp with U.K. Mullard in the power amp  I am unbelievably spoiled.

LOVE the idea of the mini tube deep dish. Although I’m probably going to secure a spot for the regular one. I need another comp like a hole in the head but it sounds too cool to pass up on.
And I expect the regular one to be better to be honest, I may actually have to audition a few tubes for the mini tube version. 6N21B are excellent replacements for 12AX7, and could probably replace a 12AT7 without much adjustment, but they have way too much gain to replace a 12AU7. I have another mini tube that has comparable gain to the 12AU7 and sounds great, but they are crazy microphonic, so not a great option.

Oh and in case anyone hasn't checked out the website recently, I would recommend it. I found a web developer that accepts pedals as payment, so @Sonicblaze has been sorting through my mess of a website and fixing things that don't work and generally improving it. He also did something I had planned to do forever, which was to have a "gallery" of all the builds so you can see what different color combos look like. For example you go to the PA page and you can see all the color combinations that were used in the October batch for the PA builds.

Also the website is approximately 1000% more mobile-friendly now, including the option to listen to the soundcloud demos of the pedals from your browser on mobile. Really excited about where it's going, and extremely excited to not be worrying about fixing it myself anymore :P
