Right, I have a drill template in the Black Eye build doc, I forgot to put one in the Space Heater doc. I can absolutely get that, I should have time tonight.

I actually did that a couple days ago, I need to get those posted. I think I did a Slampegg, DW, SH, and Finally so I could show that there are little differences but generally same principle. Not amazing videos, but could be helpful.

So how hot is too hot with a SB pedal? I've got the PA mini hooked up to a one spot rated max 1700ma, so the pedal is definitely receiving enough and drawing only what it needs. The knobs get very hot and the entire pedal itself is quite hot as well. Is this normal or cause for concern? Thanks!

On the mini-tube versions that's absolutely normal. The mini tubes pull more current than full size tubes so the pedal will get pretty hot. I took temperature numbers on them years ago, I'll have to see if I can find those. But yup, hot is normal.

Got it, thanks for confirming. Concern abated since performance didn't suffer, but I was def curious.

I got my finally without a tube so I had to install one.

I actually removed the output jack to get it in there. Maybe there’s an easier way, but my big meat paws couldn’t get it any other way.

It's possible to change the tube in a Finally without removing the jack, but removing the jack (12mm wrench) is definitely the easiest way to do it. I'll try to get the videos put up tonight.

Step 1. Hammer.
Step 2. Smash.
Step 3. Pull out glass and tube internals with pliers.
Step4. Pry out base with a screwdriver

Can't get a sound clip, but I will say they stack beautifully together.
They're both "big" sounding pedals.
The DW has a great midrange that works well with the slight scoop on the MBD. They really compliment eachother.
Right now, I'm running the DW as my always on clean tone, with the MBD providing a nice, subtle "hair" on top.
I like the dirt I can get from the DW, as it's real tube overdrive, and has a great grind to it, I stick with it's clean tone because it's so damn good.

This is obviously a horribly wrong procedure just waiting to get someone hurt.
You’re supposed to use a potato… not pliers. That way the glass doesn’t cut you.

Yup.
I appreciate that it's capable of a dirty tone, but it really shines (for me, and it sounds like for you as well) run clean.

I haven't, that would be interesting to try out. It wouldn't be that difficult to get DW into the smaller size box, I would just need to drop the last gain stage. There are 4 available (2 per tube) but the circuit is only using 3, so I could just cut it off and put it in the same box as UA. I guess it would essentially be like a clean Hiwatt preamp?

Would dropping the last gain stage in the DW significantly change the tone, or just not allow it to break up as much? If it would be a clean-ish Hiwatt preamp, what do we need to do for this to gain some traction?
