Reading the past posts it doesn’t seem like they are polar opposites the last clip that I like of the slampeg the most has the gain at 9 which was right about where I’d be maybe a hair more but not much more gain. So hoping UA is a little cleaner more less gain more of the cut an eq shaping. My ocd gets the best of me when buying pedal but I’m know
Ima love either one these pedals as they both from what I’m hearing can do the clean tube breakup sound no prob… I kinda dig the ultra hi an ultra low setting of the slampeg…. But I’m sure the UA can’t be to diff

To date...the current gen UA, with the Tone Stack defeat switch is my fav of the SBFX pedals. Someday I'm trying a VenusX... I'm prepared to be blown away...


After reading up a bit... you're after an F2B thing ? The UA is a clear pick. .. and if you buy two, you can simulate the cascaded channel thing the Alembic does but unlike the Alembic, you can switch one channel in or out. I did that for a few gigs winter 2023. I am usually a 2 basses on stage guy.
It was more common for me to use one for each of two basses and feed L&R of an HX Stomp.

I had a real clear clean Chris Hillman sound using a Starfire with BiSonics - truly lovely. I did a more trad Fender Plus a little hair on the other with a Schecter Shorty P (Banshee bass with a std wind Fralin). Two flavors of Yes Mam! I'll have more of that thank you. Almost an embarrassment of riches.

Earlier today I stopped in at CG to grab some strings and I looked at the wall wart selection because I'll be needing something with a longer cord for my small board. The 1 Spot as mentioned is 1700 mA. They had another one called Acoustic and it was rated at 2000 mA, but I'm guessing this is CG's house brand, so no idea of the quality.
The 1 Spot says it has a 10ft cord so that's what I'll pick up if I can't find any of the other warts I thought were stashed in my garage.

thank you very much for that detailed response man! I’m a tone nerd pretty obvi and gear nerd. I use to play guitar an I had it figured out how to get the tone I wanted. With bass I knew most was in hands when I first made switch so I jut focused on technique an my tone from hands. Now it’s been a couple years I’ve upgraded the rig an now exploring tones an bass is a whole diff animal obvi. I really didn’t expect it to be so diff. But there’s some tricks I’ve learned from this site thank god that’s saved me TONS of money an learned endless amounts of stuff for live stuff which I’m running into more an more now the band is growing! I’m super pumped about the UA! I think it’ll blend really nicely!

So ima do one now but I do love the idea of stacking if need be!! I use to stack tube screamers so I can get the use of stacking. And yes the Alembic tone I’m not sure why but I just love it. For the jam type of music that touches on all generas I love the clean but focused sound. An then the slight growl you get when digging in. I’m not a huge fan of OD which is why I’m glad you an others have made it clear the UA is the more just tube natural breakup. Goose an their bassist is a tone i really just love right now. But it seems alot of the jam band guys liked the modulus alembic type tones. I’m excited to see the results with the UA. The reviews it does have are great and I was impressed with the clips I heard of the slampeg which makes me think ima love the UA once I get it!

@PhishPhan22 I expect you'll really like the UA. One of my touchstones is a BF Showman Amp set for clean, clean, clean. The UA can get me into that neighborhood. It took me a while to suss the extra bass on tap. One of my fave sounds was TMB at 666. A pretty juicy 'electric' scoop on a Showman Amp. more like 663 on a UA. 6-10-6 is where mine is set often. This is all very cabinet dependent though. Mine are all 2 way and fairly neutral.
