Hey guys! Its been a minute since I was able to pop in here... life happened, in a hard way. Unfortunately, I'm strained financially and have to let go of some of my gear... I'm dropping a couple of my Sushi pedals here first, for y'all's consideration before going to the classifieds..

I know we've all been there, GLWTS! And friendly reminder to potential buyers, I still take care of used pedals under my warranty, so if you're in the market, go for it.
FYI if anyone is looking for a power supply like the Onespot, Guitar Center/Musicians Friend have their 2000ma Acoustic branded supply on sale for $10. Smoke signal pedal set up my tone forever! Itching for the next one but SS covers so much ground!
I was just really about to get a UA or PA. But I’d also like a DI pedal to send to FOH that’s similar to the UA. Sushi make one pedal liek that or is pairing UA a more prob a solid best option?
Get a seperate DI to use with the UA, IMHO a better solution.
@Sushi Box FX offers the very exc3llent Finally Tube DI with the LBA (Lightning Boy Audio) transformer whuch I use for almost all my recording. It is a perfect size and the right mix of an active DI with a quality transformer that is 9v powered. The gain circuit is the same as on the UA so you can double dip on the tube goodness going from crystaline to busted as you please.
For live I more often use my Radial JDI as that is the sound is a familiar sound and is virtually indestructable unlike my old Dietz DI with a Jensen tranz that lasted 3+ decades.
@Sushi Box FX if I have my Smoke Signal face down, with the back off, staring at the guts, which tube do I swap to only affect the red channel? Right of left?
Late to the Sushi train but have tried both a UA and Slampegg recent. Both great but the Slampegg won for myself, thinking about grabbing an Elementary to A/B/C…
Curious to know what you liked with the Slampegg over the UA?
Used them both flat only so far so more experimenting with the tonestacks are probably in order to truly get a feel of what both can do.
But to me the Slampegg has a tighter low end while still being full and the Ampeg signature is definitely there. The UA feels murkier down low to me but also has more highs in a way I didn’t like as much.
YMMV, both great. I run them into the front of a Genzler Magellan 800.
Ahh, thanks for the response. That explains what I found as well. Personally, my preference was for the UA with its Fender-leaning tone stack. The Slampegg was true to its name with the Ampeg tone.
I ran mine with a Fender P into a DAW with neutral monitors and used a PF 20T and Rumble 100 for reference.
That may have just been the way you set the EQ. Flat on the Slampegg is both controls at noon. Flat on the UA is 0-10-0 (bass, middle, treble). If you had them set at noon, there would have been a significant mid scoop. A popular starting point is 5-10-5.
FWIW, I have, and love, an Elementary. Like the UA, the tone controls are very interactive so it takes some getting used too. Also, don’t be afraid to use what looks like unconventional settings. I find with tone controls like these, it’s much better to set them using you ears, not your eyes.
Thanks, I was aware of what truly flat on each was going in and set them there to start. Will do some messing around with the EQ of each when I get a chance.
Probably will grab an Elementary, and then a handwired version of whatever I like best after very scientific testing. The natural mid scoop both intrigues and scares me haha.
Last night I did a doubling gig with a full orchestra. Ran the 5 string into my OvniFX Smoothie, the UA, to the Grace Felix, then it split to my AI Ten2 for me and from the Felix to FOH.
it sounded so amazing just like it always does. I have the gain set where a light to moderate finger touch is just full and pronounced, but if I dig I get just a little authoritative grit. So Simon and Garfunkel sounded warm and fuzzy, but the gospel 12/8 really had some heft. The FOH guys and the monitor mix engineer both came to me after the show to tell me how much they loved that sound.
The double bass sounded good too, but it was straight into the Felix so it sounded like a good double bass sound. They’re used to that so it’s a no news is good news situation, as it should be. But I was a little surprised they actually mentioned the EB sound.
