I love making good decisions...I bought my LMII around 12 months ago (Im in th UK) and at that time only a couple of people in the US and on the Talkbass forums had tried them properly, most people were just saying when will they be in the US?
So anyway I tried it loved it and took the risk and went and bought it with a Traveller 15" mark bass cab...I've absolutely love it, it was the best desicion of my life (slight exageration!) and anyway having enjoyed playing it thoroughly for the last year or so, in which time I've not been on TalkBass so much due to the business of finishing my degree and doing a disertation. I come back to so this moma thread telling me that yes I did make the best decision....I love it!
and thank you everyone for making me feel even better about a purchase which was a very risky one considering my income!!!

If anybody is interested I found a Youtube clip of my amp online.

There is a few small clips of the band playing. this was an open mic jam, and this country band that comes out was doing a promotion for their upcoming festival that was in town a few blocks over. I brought out one of my UL2-112's and my LMII for its first trial run. The bass player brought his obnoxious Modulus 5er out. It handled it well. Too bad you cant hear much on the recording.

Thanks for the quick replies to my inquiries about the LM II. Lotsa good advice.

I'm out here in Western Colorado where there are no places to test drive high-end gear!

Respecting the title of this thread, I won't go into detail regarding my EA rig and recent issues and resulting service from them. I will, however, start a new thread in a day or so and give all the juicy details.

I've been asked to work a couple of 10pm to 6am shifts at the job and, MAN, does that mess with your biorythms??? I'm awake and working when I should be sleeping or giging and vice-versa. SHEEESH!!!!!

My LM II arrived this afternoon. Pristine. Untouched. Pulled it out, did the oooh and ahhh thing. But playing it will be tomorrow...:(
I did pick up a Gator 12 inch mixer bag which fits the LM real well and has room for my cables. I was looking at notebook cases, but my arrangement with my local mom and pop made the Gator cheaper...and it's much more heavy duty.

I found a thread about light poweramps just today and the amp you mentioned:)
I started thinking about it after launching of that new preamp. It seems to cover any issues one may need (at least judging by its specs). Before that I was focused on TA 503 and I don't know:hmm:

With a good bass I personally don't believe you need all kinds of eq and options (such as the new preamp will give you...although I'm sure it's a great studio tool as it seems it was intended for). If you're looking for just a great clean sound with volume to spare than the LMKII is plenty for most anyone. Actually, I bypass the pre most of the time and just use my onboard eq...you can do this by going into the effects return on the back of the amp. It gives you a bit less compression and a bit more dynamics.

IMHO, a single space preamp version of the TA501 or SA450 would be great.

Actually, I bypass the pre most of the time and just use my onboard eq...you can do this by going into the effects return on the back of the amp. It gives you a bit less compression and a bit more dynamics.

All the amps I've used I'm pretty sure the efx loop is PRE EQ (which I would think is typical), so I'm not sure how often this would work for someone. Just curious, which amp(s) did you do this with? You're talking about plugging your bass directly into the efx return, right?

Plug into the back of your LMKII.....it bypasses the preamp and goes straight to the power section.

Right, for a lot of amps the fx loop is a direct series connection between the preamp stage and the power amp. Not all amps are set up the same way though. And not all power amp sections are designed to be sensitive enough to be driven by the onboard pre of a bass. But some are.
