man, I could totally rock one of those cabs for gigging!

the sound control in glasgow used to have a BFC, with a VERY sexy (brand spanking new) V8 sitting on top.
That was back when I started out. £1300 for the V8, i think, perhaps closer to £2k.
I used to sit and oogle, so shiney.
Alas, it never sold and got shipped off to Birmingham or somewheres. I wonder if they still have it in stock anywhere - it truely is a beautiful amp!

Now, not that I wouldn't mind owning one, the BFC always seemed a little silly to me. Why not just have a 4x10 + 15T? :hmm:
Although, the BFC has a higher rating than a 4x10+15... shrug.

The point of making the BFC is pretty different than owning a 4x10 and 1x15 then stacking them. And not a lot of people really understand the point of the cabinet.

The BFC explanation according to Trace Elliot literature (directly quoted):
Trace Elliot Brochure (Gibson) said:
"As a partner to the flagship AH1000-12 head, the BFC has a revolutionary new cabinet, which, in conjunction with the head represents the world's first all-in-one tri-ampable stereo bass rig, allowing bass players unprecedented flexibility and power."

Further info,
Trace Elliot Brochure (Gibson) said:
"The BFC, 1000 watt cabinet. 1x15", 4x10", two horns 500 watts of mono bass (into 1x15"). 250 watts per side of stero top end (into 2x10" plus horn each side)."

BFC spec's

Trace Elliot Brochure (Gibson) said:
Configuration: 1x15", 4x10", 2xHF horn
Dimensions: H1380mm (54.3")/W610mm (24")/D430mm (16.9")
Weight: 87kg (191 lbs.)

So basically the point of the BFC was to have a monstrous cab that was able fully utilize all 1000 crushing watts of the AH1000-12 head and create a tri-ampable, stereo rig for ultimate power and flexability...

Funk me! I'll be calling by Sound Control asking about that soon then ;). The BFC they had in Leeds had a blown 15 inch and they wanted £300 for it. I was tempted, then I remembered it weighed 87 kilos and my bedroom's up a staircase with two tightish 90 degree turns in it. Then I left with the cash still safely in my pocket :).

If you want to hear one of those Trace V8 combos in action with a picked Stingray, check out the tunes on this myspace page: Link Removed

Its a band from my hometown - My band and I recorded our EP in their house studio and I spied the bass players Trace. Very tidy. Apparently though he rates the solid state Trace Combos over the V8 ones... whether this is due to the small drivers or not I have no idea, it still sounds pretty good to me.

Hey everyone, Ive been thinking about getting a gp12 preamp but ive never had a chance to play one or will have a chance to play one before I get it. if I remember correctly Stuart Zender played trace gear would I be able to get a sound like he did?
