Hello, my girlfriend has found a website in the UK which sells TE strings. I was wondering if anyone has any experiance with them, what are they like how long do they last and would they suit punk? This could go in strings but as its to do with TE I thought it would suit best in here:)if not please move it thanks

From what I have read on this thread, the post Gibson stuff isn't as good as the old stuff, but how does the new stuff compare to other brands? I am thinking of replacing my Ampeg rig. How would an AH1000-12 head and a 1048H cab (or a 1048H cab with an Alembic F2B preamp and Crown power amp) compare to an Ampeg SVT-4 head and PR410HLF cab. The only reason I have the Ampeg rig (my second choice) is because Trace Elliot gear was out of production when I was shopping for a rig. Any comments/comparisons?

280 for that BFC is a very, very good deal. £1000 was around the origional street price for them I belive. I was thinking about picking one up from a local Sound Control who were desperate to move one with a blown 15" but the weight killed the deal for me. 87kg! I live up a staircase, forget that! Casters aint gonna save you on the stairs.

But if you got that speaker fix you'd have the single biggest cab around! :D

But yes it wouldn't be that practical as you pointed out. ;)

Trace lover myself, had two BLX80 combos and a little boxer 30 and my main gig rig is an AH400SMX with two 4X10's and a brite box, you can see it in the background here..

I've just found sth like that:

a V4 with 2channel preamp like in V8
have you ever heard of it?!

Yep, I've heard of it alright, towards the end of the Gibson Trace era they started making new V4s which were essentially V8s with half the power section, otherwise they were pretty much idential afaik. If you've found one, buy it! Now! They're held in very high regard indeed.

Buy it, basically they're V8's set with the half power switch set on all the time. So instead of being 400W they're 200W. Everything else is the same as the V8.

Buy it, it's a fantastic head.

If one came up in the US I'd make the jump.

Yup, I'd snatch that baby up, if one is available. :)

hello people, just a quick question about the V6s. Why did they make it so you can't run the V6 at 8ohms?Everything is great with that amp but for me this is the only downside to it. Has anybody got an answer? Thanks:)
