I have never seen or heard anyone actually using a full stack. The cabs came as the 1248 (no horn) or the 1248H (with horn). They weigh over 100 lbs each, and are about 31" wide, 32" tall, and 15" deep. Ten years ago, I could just barely pick one up myself, and that only because I am 6' 1" tall and could actually reach the handles at the same time. They can handle 800 W of power each at 8 Ohms. Two could probably take out a castle at 100 yards.

I'll keep that in mind next time I have a castle to take out...
It is my understanding that testing these during the development phase resulted in several destroyed castles around the countryside of the United Kingdom.
Well, they're certainly easier to move around than a full-sized trebuchet!
SI.. Whiff Sniff.. Smells like the 1990's ....... Eventually I am going to replace the valve or tube sockets with ceramic or porcelain gold sockets as well as replace my Trace Elliot V4 V-Type bass guitar amplifier with stock KT88 valve power tubes.I prefer KT88 valves tubes with clarity and maximum headroom. What brand of KT88 valves tubes would you suggest? Genalex , Electro Harmonix , JJ ?

TBPH, I never had to replace the stock tubes in either of my V-Type heads, although I did at one point have a matched quartet from VHT as a backup. I rely pretty heavily on Groove Tubes for my guitar amps, so I'd be inclined to buy their KT88SV (which I think is made by Svetlana in Russia). I also trust E-H for tubes.
There are many rumors how many units really ever made. I asked the people at TE. They answered me more than 1000 of the V4 MKI and V6 were made...
I bought mine used with the original valves, which then exploded during its second gig... replaced with JJ’s and haven’t looked back. I’d love a bit more grit and at the time it came to choosing the JJ’s seemed like they were going to be as hot as I could get! That was over 10 years ago...
Well I have the new 12AX7//ECC83 preamplifier valve tube sockets purchased from Tube Depot.
I still have not decided which brand of reissue KT88 quad valve power tubes to order Mullard KT88, Genalex Gold Lion KT88, Groove Tubes KT88 SV. As far as bass guitar tone? I'm looking for depth, clarity, and clean amplifier headroom. I can always dirty up my bass guitar tone signal by playing with a pick and with Univox Unicord Super Fuzz pedal 
or with a Maestro BB-1 Bass Brass Master pedal obtained in 1993.

My Trace Elliot bi-amped Rig Of Doom - V6 for low mids and up, 600H V-type driving the lows through my Accurgroove Whappo Grande 21" sub. Excuse the mess, haven't been using the room much lately.
Haven't taken any castles out with it, yet, but the neighbors do complain when their windows rattle in the frames!

Also why would you not run the lows through the V6 instead of the 600H? Seems kinda counterintuitive being that the V6 is gonna be WAY more powerful and you'll get that sexy tube breakup in the lows if you drive it hard. Just my .02
I would definitely put the 600H on the sub, since solid-state amps have a much higher damping factor. Tube amps do not really work as well with ported cabs as they do with sealed cabs. And the 600H is a 600 W power amp, whereas the V6 is rated for 300 W, if I recall correctly?

I think I will put the 600H on top physically though, just because of the size difference. Still keeping it on the lows though.

I have one (1248H), but the cabinet is cracked and one driver is torn, patched with woven fiberglass tape. UPS dropped it in shipment, and refused my damage claim, so i got stuck with it. Plays fine with no weird noises, I gigged with it for years like that, but I can't carry it anymore, so I'm planning on dismantling it and loading the drivers into a 2x12 and two 1x12s. One of these days, I have to find out if Celestion has recone kits for these drivers, as they were custom made for Trace Elliot.
The decision to use particle board on the wood speaker baffle by Trace Elliot in the construction of the Trace Elliot V-Type 4 X 12 cabinet is deficient flaw on this bass speaker cabinet.
With the weight of four twelve Celestion bass guitar speakers baltic birch wood seems to be a more appropriate solution.
I wonder who manufactured the green Rexine or Tolex for the Trace Elliot V-Type amplifiers and speaker cabinets? Rolls Royce??
Lastly what about the rumors of Matamp constructing the V-Type amplifiers for Trace Elliot.

I couldn't disagree more. Yes you're correct, on paper, the 600H is 600 watts and the V6 is rated at 400 watts. But 400 tube watts is going to be insanely louder and more powerful than a 600 watt mosfet amp. I also owned a V6 for many years and it was not only the loudest amp I've ever heard in my life, but it sounds insane through both ported and sealed cabs. Before that, I used a V type pre into a 2500 watt power amp and the V6 STILL destroyed it in both tone and volume. There's no rule that says tube amps work "better" through sealed cabs. If anything, you're losing low end using a sealed cab since ports allow for more air flow. I mean, I love how tube amps sound through sealed cabs, especially if I'm going for some super old school vibe, but my Epifani 2x15 (ported) sounded better than anything else with my V6 and I still use it in conjunction with my '63 B-15 top. If you're living your life under the assumption that tube amps don't sound amazing with ported cabs, you're missing out bro!
