Thanks for answering. The advice is appreciated. Unfortunately the guy who sells Berg and Sadowsky around here is also the guy who sold me the EA, and I was kind of upset with him. Tell me if I was off base here if you would. I was sold the CxL-112 as being adequate for club shows, it wasn't, and since I was invested in EA and I did like the sound I bought a second to get the volume I was after. Minutes after getting it home and hooked up the speaker blew. Admittedly this was not my normal amp (a truly cursed SWR 350x that was AWOL at the time) Instead, I had hooked up a vintage 20w Traynor Bassmate that I was running at about 8. I know about underpowered amps and clipping, and there is no way I can see that 20w of power, even if clipped in a pure square wave (which this certainly wasn't) can blow a 350w cab as it would have no more than 40w energy max to overheat the driver with, which is simply not enough power to do the damage. To make a long story shorter, the vendor would not take the cabinet back but he did repair it free of charge. I had thought he just did a bad repair, but you've now given me reason to think it is the YBA's tube power section (I got the YBA soon after the second cab). I still think he should have taken the thing back and sent it back to EA for a refurb so that I could find something more appropriate to my needs. Since he didn't have anything meeting this description, he knew my money was out the door, so he kept it and repaired the cab instead. Should he have given me my money back? Or am I in the wrong in feeling aggrieved? He runs a very small operation and every sale counts for this guy, so I kind of understand, but I don't think it justifies his not returning my cash. If I have to apologize to him at least I can have a go at the Bergie 6x10 and Sadowsky 4x10 and compare them to the Traynor YBX1510 and XC808 (which intrigues me despite the icky Yorkville-standard finish). The Sadowsky is only about a couple hundred more ($1100) than the 1510 ($850) and 808 ($880). The Bergie is $1400. These are all Canadian dollars. Which would be your pick for a rocker type with an Live at Leeds fetish? One of the boutique cabs or one or two of the Traynor cabs (a pair of 1510's or one of each)? Anything strike you as an especially great deal on any of these prices?
