The Video Game Thread

@RoadieP The new cyberware system is fantastic. It's going to take me a while to really dig in ( I'm a notorious min/max fiend ) but it makes much more sense to me. Also the garments are just that now, which is good, and kinda bad, I sorta liked the John Wick-ish armored suit vibe ) The visuals are noticeably better, even on my ancient home built rig. I can only imagine what a decent vid card looks like on this. The cops are pretty cool now. There are beat cops wandering around so no more POOF! Insta drone when you cross the line. Also, I pushed them a bit to see what they do.... when you hit lvl 5 Max Tac show up. They are no joke :D One oddity, for me at least. It feels like they slowed The driving is changed. it's not better. It still feels like you're sitting on a compass rose and spinning on axis when you steer. I sorely wish someone on their dev team would become buds with someone on the GTA V dev team. The driving aspect of Cyberpunk 2077 is still a huge miss for me. It's a shame too.[/QUOTE]

I got used to the crappy driving at launch and then they "fixed" it and I had to learn to drive again. Not stoked that they've changed it again but hopefully I can adapt. I mostly just ride bikes in the game and have had a much better/enjoyable time driving. I guess I'll see when I get around to playing. Couldn't put starfield down again this weekend

I beat Bioshock, Alan Wake and now Dishonored 2 on my Steam Deck :)

Gonna replay Dishonored 2 with another character.

Also installed Guild Wars 2, runs super well on the deck. Gosh this thing is amazing.

I had no idea what a Steam Deck was until I saw you mention it here. Those are cool. Wow, they have come a long way since the Game Boy, and even further since the Merlin.
I remember saving up my paper route money to buy a Merlin from the local electronics store in town, Video Concepts.

Meant the Deck - sorry. But BG3 is totally on my list, too.

The Steam Deck is a cool piece of hardware. I haven't had a PC to game with so it opens up games for me that haven't made it to Switch or XBox. The Deck is big, heavy, kinda loud, and has almost no battery life with BG3. I knew all of this going in, but it's important for anyone who thinks it might be more like a Switch.

Let's me play on the couch while the wife is watching TV.

I keep my charger ready!

I installed cryoutilities, updated the proton wrapper or whatever it is called and I set my games to 40 fps at 40hz. Lets me use more of the battery.

Lasts about 3 hours that way. I played thru Dishonored 2 like that on a mix of high/very high settings at stable 40 fps.

Just dove back into Cyberpunk 2077 this weekend after a year away. The new skill/attribute deal is definitely taking a bit to get used to but, for the most part hasn't affected me in combat. Armor vs clothing and new cyberware system are taking a bit more time to adjust to. I flat out hate the new crafting and upgrade system. There seems to be a major shortage of crafting components since you can't buy them anymore. I reckon I'll have to deal with it and adjust. Netrunning is still massively OP and that's how I plan to run this play through lol. Haven't gotten to Phantom Liberty yet and am contemplating doing it early to take advantage of the new weapons and relic tree in the base game. Anybody got any tips or things to look our for in Cyberpunk 2.0/Phantom Liberty?

When I play these days, it's usually SnowRunner on PS4. I'm sure I have hundreds of hours in it by now.

My wife and I are really excited about Tales of the Shire and I think we're going to spin it into an excuse to buy a Switch. She used to play stuff like JRPGs when she was younger and has expressed an interest in getting back into gaming in general. I think the Switch might be the way to do it with stuff like Animal Crossing and co-op games.

Switch will be great, lots of fun multi player games. Games like the new Kirby can be really fun to play together.

I love snow runner. Pairs well with a little jazz cabbage.
