The world's most expensive bass...

The third oe (all black) looks like a Roger Rabbit bass. I think they're quirky but cool.

Anybody know where there are some good sound clips? (Not that I could afford to buy one...)

Check out Aram Bedrosians's YouTube channel. He's an excellent soloist, and he plays a Ritter Roya (I think).

The Deluxe model handles detuning better, that's just the standard model.

it states that "Ritter couldn't afford buying insrtruments when he first started out". Kinda odd that he feels compelled to now build a bass that NOBODY can afford!!!

I love this one. Having heard some of his basses, they don't really get a tone I like, but that can be dealt with. If I had the money one of these would reside happily in my collection.

I'm sure Ritter makes great instruments (I think he was an engineer) but the fact that he puts jewelry into a bass and gets spots on display in Washington DC (or someplace like that) over some Alembic or Spector or old BC Rich is absurd. Any of those companies have had infinitely more impact on the world of music that a bass with a few rich women's wedding rings in them.

If I put a Ferrari into a Pbass does that make me awesome? No (other than logistically figure out how to do that).

Ritter has cool finishes. They are cool ideas but nothing compared to the company's I mentioned (and others too).

He got hired by a very rich person to build his/her bass dream, customer gave the specs and Ritter built it, nothing wrong with that.

I doubt this bass would ever get played. Could you imagine hitting the headstock against a mic stand? You would hear the screams for miles.

Even if I had that kinda money I'd rather have 250 $1000 basses. Or 1000 $250 basses. Or 25 $10000 basses. But I wouldn't own that thing.

It is unquestionably beautifully made, and I expect it sounds good. But looking at it gives me a bit of motion sickness. Too much visual noise is too much visual noise, no matter how well executed or how expensive the materials involved. I have to wonder how well gold tuning machines will hold up, too.

Really? I don't see how any of this is relevant to anything...especially the BC Rich comment, they were popular for what, about 30 seconds in the 1980s?
