Loved me some Banana Splits back in the day. One of my buddies is nicknamed Drooper because he had similar sunglasses. The sunglasses are long gone, the name stuck.

Kellogg's toy submarine from the 60's. You put a tablet made of baking powder in the bottom and place it in water and it would submerge and come back up. (at least that was the theory)

I had one just like it in the late 60s. It worked every time in the pool and nearby pond. I then tried it out at Lake Berryessa ( a nearby reservoir). Nope. It made the big plunge to the briney deep to join the Ghost of Davey Jones. It could be there still to this day. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Picture whipwreck hunters 100 years from now finding it.

We had a landfill/dump nearby that was great for exploring. Once there was a mountain of spools of plastic sting, each spool had a few miles of string on it.
We would fly kites and let an entire spool of string out You couldn't see the kite anymore. It was too much to rewind the string to bring the kite back so
we would just let them go. I wonder how far they actually went?

Oh man, our mom would buy that stuff and we'd drink it by the gallon. Frozen concentrate juices were a big part of my childhood.
