In DC and in Baltimore, I have been in houses (rowhouses) that still had gas lines throughout the house and gas light fixtures. I haven't met anyone who has them still functional though. As far as the old wringer washers, most of them were made by Bendix, and for those who couldn't afford the extravagance, there was also the hand washboard which were ubiquitous in the early 50's. For old cars how about the Avanti or Henry J? These were really cool cars at their times (Henry J predates the Avanti by quite a bit).

Toys - does anyone remember the little plastic frogmen that had a compartment for baking soda that you would drop into a sink or bathtub?

There are still some Arthur Treacher's Seafood Restaurants around. Here is a website for some in Ohio.

These are still around- I just grabbed a couple of mini-sub ones at our local hobby shop.

I once dated a girl whose mom didn't change her name so my ex had one of those double last names, which didn't go very well, as she was forever cursed with the last name initials of V.D.......
I got married for the first time almost twenty years ago and we combined/hyphenated our last names. I lost her to brain cancer four years later.
Before I got married this last time I felt it appropriate to go back to my original surname. It was a pain in the butt to change it back on all legal documentation and my wife went through hell and high water getting her maiden name back after her divorce. So we thought screw it, changing names is more hassle than it's worth... we just stuck with the ones we were given at birth.

Oh, cut the bleeding heart crap, will ya? Weve all got our switches, lights, and knobs to deal with, Striker. I mean, down here there are literally hundreds and thousands of blinking, beeping, and flashing lights, blinking and beeping and flashing theyre *flashing* and theyre *beeping*. I cant stand it anymore! Theyre *blinking* and *beeping* and *flashing*! Why doesnt somebody pull the plug!

Yhea.. No Doubt me and my girlfreind would drink that stuff like crazy it even came in plastic liter bottles...have not had it since we broke up in '88. Think I will pick a couple 4 packs up tonight.
My ma used to pick that stuff up for free somewhere. I'd go home to visit and there's 20 bottles of B&J Marguerita flavor in the fridge. Well....okay...I guess I can drink some.
