This is interesting... Sire MM Bass???

My preorder is in. Currently looking at a stock arrival date of 22nd August, but I'm fully prepared for that to slip until they actually arrive. Eh, it is what it is - no amount of whingeing on my part is going to make them arrive any quicker.

To all you moaners - they'd have been here by now if there hadn't been all this hand wringing about the lower horn and someone grassing Sire up to EBMM ;)

(my tongue is firmly in my cheek, in case the humour flies over your head in that last sentence)

I wonder if they use the same technique as Acclaim in canada where the "shipping date" is always 15 days in the future...

I also have a pre-order at my local shop but they didn't gave me anything else than "it should be during summer". I can't wait as i reserved it in may but from what i see online, mid/end august should be the date.

What is worrying me is except that portugese girls, there is still no review online of the bass. That means they are either under NDA or the bass are still not around.

I'm not worried. Why worry? As I said before - there's nothing I can say or do which will make these arrive any quicker. If it was all a dream then I'll get my money refunded. C'est la vie. It's not as if there aren't thousands of other basses out there. I'm chill about it, beyond the basic frisson of an imminent bass arrival which is attached to all my bass acquisitions.

RE: the lack of reviews/previews - perhaps Sire don't operate as extensive a hype machine as some manufacturers? Come to think of it, they haven't really had to do anything except float that these basses might exist at some indeterminate time in the future to get people foaming at the mouth so maybe they've played a blinder by keeping it on the DL.

FWIW, my retailer's current stock ETA is 22nd August. Fully prepared for that to change (and not bothered about that beyond general "where TF is my bass?" type grumbles), but it has stayed firm for over a week now.

Giane Rangel is Brazilian and a Sire Endorser/"Friend", so I'm not surprised she has got one new model before they are regularly available... (and I'm glad there's that review at all).

I hope LowEndLobster will get one in time and tell us more...

Don't worry, i am not too worried too. it's not like if i don't receive that bass soon i might not be able to feed the children i don't have... it was more a figure of speech ! Sorry if you took it way too literally.

Didn't know she was from Brazil, it's good to know. She is indeed great and i even wonder if she pushed for MM style bass ? who know.

But indeed, she made the best review on the internet.

As for LowEndLobster, i think she said there will be one, but there might be another review before this happen. We will see.

Sire shot a demo video with Giane.
For some reason, they made her play a bunch of latter era Chili Peppers tunes instead of letting her rip.
I prefer the Anderton's demo, that just solidified my decision to purchase the Z7.

They sound good. But not 100% like a Stingray. It comes close but something is missing. Not sure what exactly though.

My guess is it’s the preamp. Sire uses a very nice preamp but it’s not the MM preamp. However, I think it’s close enough that in a band context hardly anyone would notice.

Also, I had an email exchange with my Sweetwater guy yesterday when I saw that Sweetwater is now saying arriving in January. He said that’s true for new orders but I’m at/near the top of the preorder list so I should be getting mine in “the next week or two.” So here’s hoping that holds up, not that I can play right now anyway.

That makes sense. But if you only want the Stingray sound for little money you might also get a Sterling Stingray Sub. Maybe that sounds more like a USA Stingray than the Sire? But hope someone does a comparison video soon.

Sweetwater is always backordered on some Sire models.
I waited around for the better part of a year for them to stock the V5.
I finally gave up and found it at CME right away.
It's probably best to check with other retailers to be on the safe side.
