This is what happens when you seek fame before talent...

The last time I was on a big session we were tracking drums and bass live, and after a particularly good take came back to the control room for a listen.

Overall it was a really inspired drum performance, but one transitional drum fill in particular was quite clearly not happening...some might have referred to it as "boots in a dryer".

Immediately after hearing the fill the drummer looked at the rest of us (producer, two engineers and myself) and said, "What the shag did I just play?" :roflmao:

There used to be this concept called "discipline and practice" but I think that's now old fashioned and no longer applicable. So much advancement lost after 2000. We were moving forward with technical ability now we're reverting back to acoustic guitars and three finger chords. Pretty sad when a lead guitarist plays a solo ON ONE STRING???? Pathetic. We would have laughed him out of an amateur jam session. How sad.

I'v actually done the same thing in some of my sessions. But also, the studio is like a microscope and your playing is the little bug under it. So all the little idiosyncrasies get picked up. It'll make you better or break you in half!

I'm just wondering, considering how many incredible guitarists are involved in the country music scene, what percentage of the people in that audience would have nailed that solo on the first take. I'm bettin' a bunch. Damn. Wrong audience for a misstep.

That was one of my first thoughts too. Also, to all the people saying that most people didn't even notice, I bet 90% of that room noticed and I'm being conservative.

Oh geez, you sound like my parents! People have been saying similar stuff since the beginning of time. Every previous generation thinks they're so much better than the current one. And no, you wouldn't be laughing him out of your amateur jam session because he wouldn't be there since he's too busy leading his own successful bands :D

Relax, no one is being humiliated.

I'm sit re Mr.happen to anyoneas isn't crying into his swimming pool full of money over the online opinions of strangers, he'll likely never be aware that any of us exist at all.

And no, this couldn't "happen to anyone", which is why people are laughing about it; this is just what happens when you hire a guy who owns a hammer instead of an actual carpenter ;)

its ok , we forgive you.. ignorance sucks but it is what it is!
ohh & one more thing..
Opinions are like A Holes everybody has one but not everybody should give them ! & yes that could happen to any body even you & me!!

Who's "we"? I certainly don't need and didn't ask for forgiveness, seems like you aren't listening to your own advice about opinions ;)

As I've mentioned in other posts, the professional musicians I know all have a good laugh at themselves when they play something gross, myself included.

That being said, if we ever performed this poorly it could cost us our job, so we don't; which is why a lot of people who actually play instruments for a living think this is funny enough to transcribe or make play through videos for.

Nick Jonas is doing just fine, no need to take everything so seriously

EDIT: Also, what happened to that second paragraph you quoted? Just to clear up any confusion, it reads like this, "I'm sure Mr. Jonas isn't crying into his swimming pool full of money over the online opinions of strangers, he'll likely never be aware that any of us exist at all."
