Yes that seems overpriced.
I part-exchanged my Red-bird a few years ago ( I know, I should have kept it ) and it later resold at the dealer for £1250 ( about $1600 ).

Nice!Tried the Broughton SV-Pre with the 12-string and 'though I've kinda found my fav setting with the "normal" bass I was prepared for a serious tweakin as the 12-string is sometimes hard to please when it comes to EQ etc. To my surprise all I had to do was to switch the low to the ultra-low and that was it. The scoop it makes to the 500Hz area really works with the 12 and I could even crank the gain a bit without it getting harsh or muddy. The Acoustic cab does the rest of the shaping.
This makes the life easier if I have gigs where I have to switch between 4 and 12 and have to go without mic'ing or without the amp at all.

The car or the woman? I assume the structure is a little older.
I don't look good in heels.why flats?
Thx for the reply, very helpful.
I have a tendency to go for warm and mellow finger style playing but also love the attack and bloom of a soft pick on flats. Clank and clack aren’t typically my tone goals, but I’ve always been surprised how much of that you hear on isolated bass tracks laid down by professionals.
Oh, and yes, I have a small rack of shoes as well, but most are western boots, hiking boots and sneakers (only one pair of dress shoes to my name). Unfortunately no bunny slippers, but I do have smoking shoes.![]()
I find the TIs generally brighter and the mids (which are very present) tend to be mid to upper mids. Pyramids seem darker and thicker sounding to me. Mids seem lower. Kind of like GHS Precision Flats, which have good low mids, but are slightly brighter than the Pyramids, but not as much as TIs or EBCFs.
Yes.Just played it. Pretty good.
A thought came to mind, do you guys also use the phrase “out of whack”?
Hmmmm, doesn’t sound like that’s what I’m after. What about LaBella DTF’s? Would those be warmer with more low mids and bottom end, maybe more thump and volume? The Roto's are stiff. Might want to at least consider going to a lighter gauge if that could be an issue. They also tend toward the bright side of flats. Not a lot, just that lean that direction more than the thump direction. They have nice mids (no surprise), and for some reason are very low output. Amps have volume controls so that's not problem unless changes basses during a set.
I hear that after you stay there a while the place does begin to “glow” on you.I've never been to Chernobyl.

got 66N/B and Chromes on this and trust me….no reason to change anything….The Chrome flats on it right now are too bright for my tastes, so time for a change.
Was kinda thinking it would be neat on this bass to go full retro and install a Thunderbucker 66N or 66S and strings that would be close to what would have been the norm in the late 1960’s, which I assume would be these…

Honestly it's been years since I've had DTFs on anything. No magic at that time, but that was very different rigs so don't let that sway one way or the other. I do have some of the lower tension DTFs on a '05 Pbass and do like them. I believe they are round cores. They seem to be warmer than the regular DTFs and do feel great.Hmmmm, doesn’t sound like that’s what I’m after. What about LaBella DTF’s? There was a time in the early eighties when Glam bands like Slade were turning in their glitter in favor for leather and the music got increasingly heavier.
This clip of the Ian Hunter Band with the legendary Mick Ronson on guitar is a stellar showcase on that change happening. And with an awesome RD artist bass being played on stage too.

Warm with some nice thump and slight bite would be GHS Precision Flats. To me they sound like Motown and old school flats should sound. Thick and thumpy but not boomy, dark or indistinct.
Of course the caveat is that every string sounds fairly different on different basses and through different equipment--and in different hands. There, I got to use different one more time in one sentence!
I like all Beatles phases; but what I meant to say is when see an Epiphone Casino, I immediately link to Beatles![]()
I may have not remembered, but I don't think knew this story. May have been thrown out when I threw out some trash in the head....
Are we talking the “OK” hand sign that was used in the TV series The Prisoner as they said “I’ll be seeing you”?
If so, that hand sign has hundreds of different meanings and over thousands of years has been used independently by many different civilizations which had zero contact with each other. Any interpretation of that sign without context is worthless.
It is no more a Christian symbol (used by monks with a vow of silence to indicate food if touched to the lips) than a Buddhist symbol (for perfection) or an American Indian symbol (for the sun) or a Diving symbol (to indicate good to go or ok). I think McGoohan was quoted as saying they adopted it as a way of saying goodbye to fellow prisoners that were under constant surveillance by their captors. He said (right or wrong) that it was a modified Christian “fish” symbol. That may or may not have been true, I don’t recall ever hearing of it used that way. The traditional fish symbol is usually done with two hands and looks nothing like the ok hand sign.
Anyone try a Stellartone Tonestyler on T-Bird? Would be very interested in a sound clips or a video.
Any Hoodoo Gurus fans here? The Australian legends dropped a new album on Friday. I like it.
Yep.Just played it. Pretty good.
