I think his is a 72. I have a Jazz, nothing like yours, it's a '96 RI '62 with a new neck and a much bigger tone cap and I had to work at it but I really like it for blues.

That doesn't mean he could have used that bass earlier too. In another clip from Oakland he uses the white Jazz.

But if it's the same bass Cliff Williams plays in those '78 photos could it be that Leon gave it to Cliff and later Cliff gave it back? In 1978 Skynyrd was no more so a possibility of being on the same bill is zero. And in '77 AC/DC still had Mark Evans on bass.
Of course it's possible that there was two same looking NR Gibsons with 4 knobs, a pickup selector switch and block inlays in the neck plus the non-original pickguard.
And the NR Cliff has in the Back In Black promovideos is a different 'Bird, it has the normal NR IV features.

Day on the Green. I was in the second deck behind home plate getting my ears blown out by a wall of Marshall stacks that don't really show up in that video.

I attended one in 1976 - that starred The Who and the Grateful Dead (October 1976). I was completely wasted before the gates even opened so I remember very very little about that concert except that the red stamps were killers.

In 1977 I went to the one in your post that had - Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Santana, The Outlaws (July 1977). Great high energy concert all day long.

The last Day in the Green concert I attended was in 1978 - The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Elvin Bishop, Dolly Parton and Norton Buffalo (May 1978). It was a fairly laid back concert, the girl I took ended up being pretty much a flash in the pan (I think she just wanted a free ticket to the show) but afterwards it ended up being a heck of a night, I didn’t get to work until about noon the next day.

Got married soon after that to my first (crazy) wife, so the concert going pretty much went on hold until we divorced 5 years later. I really miss those Day on the Green Concerts, I’d imagine Chucky and JIO and a few others here attended some of them as well.

They were a local band in my area when I was a kid, I saw them at a Sunday afternoon matinee at a place called Leicester Airport in Leicester, Mass (was a real airport turned into a club) in 1969, you knew they were going places. I saw them a few times, were always great live and Peter Wolf was one of the best front person's I've ever seen. He was a night DJ on WBCN, Boston which is where he got his woofa goofa DJ patter from.

With the out of focus part, were you drinking....or maybe needed to be drinking? :roflmao:

I think my favorite Jazz tone might be from Mike Levine (Triumph, best band out of Canada! ;)) Big and thick bass tone--as it should be. None of that baby burpy nonsense!
