Thunderbird Club

Actually, I don’t run any of my Tbirds with the volume knob fully open, I find it bumps up the top end and doesn’t add anything to the bottom. All mine are set between 4 and 8 all the time at the neck, with the bridge brought in as needed for clarity but never equal to or higher than the neck volume, and the tone set on 5 or less.
I had never thought about that. I have some experimenting to do...

Yup, same here, and same on all double pickup basses. I was the opposite when I was a kid.
I generally run volume wide open except on the G&ls, in which case I would have to drastically adjust the amp vol. I used to have everything about half to 3/4 open so I had room to go either way. As in if a drummer or guitarist got to loving hearing themselves a little too much. I then read that not having the vol and even tone kind of chokes the tone in general a bit. I knew things got a little brighter with the vol all the way open, but kept things as is. About 10 years ago I started running most basses wide open. Most two PU basses I believe I always did so I was getting a consistent tone and not having to worry about where each vol needed to be.

I have a small practice area (aka, my living room....), so it's not super difficult for me to be able to change the settings on my amp(s). Especially the old Peavey, it's at eye-level :smug:

So, I leave the settings on the bass the same (mostly  ) for the same reason I run my volume pedal through the effects loop - so the input to the amp is consistent. I don't use the amp settings "flat" like a lot seem to do, so input changes (from pedals/effects, or the bass itself) have a sometimes inconsistent effect on the sound.
With the input settings consistent, and volume controlled post-eq, I only have the one group of variables to contend with.

It helps my simple brain make sense of which adjustments do what......

....also, this:

gives me much greater tone shaping abilities than this:

How are you liking the PF? Likes dislikes?

I thought we were not going to post pics from the last Princess Finger's Club meeting.
I thought it was just this one.
