I bet he is kind of a bitch on tour. Needs his correct brand of tea at the exact right temperature, the right pillow on his bed, and the temperature of the bus set to be uncomfortable for everyone else.Stingodoes seems like he could be just a tad bit sulky and moody.

Ha! Actually had some work to do. And let it set in the box for a week before opening.
I've only got to play it about 20 minutes. I'll report more later or tomorrow. It's going to church with me in the morning. I will say it does look mint and had all the case candy. They put strap lock buttons so I can't help but believe someone used it once. But it shows no sign of that. Neck has a little too much relief for me, but not a problem. The D'Add steels are not bright, or the bass isn't overly bright.
Any suggestions/consensus on ideal PU hight? Currently both are approx 3/8 by eye from the strings.

I stack 2 flex 75 herco picks on the neck pickup under the string I’m adjusting.
fretting the “E” at the highest fret adjust the pickup so the stack just barely clears the string.
fretting the “G” at the highest fret adjust the pickup so there is more than a slight drag removing the picks.
bridge pickup, I crank that shager as far away from the strings as possible but still balance the volume between the E & G strings.
that’s as close to a real measurement as I get on a set up.
Ahem.

Well, my brother and I had our first noise session in... a year?? maybe more??
First, I am impressed by how much we have forgotten. Second, I am impressed by how much we remembered.
Both of us are not entirely up to speed. Somethings that were easy before are now difficult. More practice is clearly needed.
In terms of physical limitations; I am adjusting reasonably well to the new wiring. My biggest problem is that I can't mute the G string when playing G on the E string. I need to come up with a solution. Probably something like this:
Gruv Gear FretWraps String Muter/Dampener (1-Pack) Small, Black | Long & McQuade (long-mcquade.com)
I am open to other suggestions anyone may have.
Good news, is that the session was reasonably long, so stamina is good. Strength still needs work. And I really need some lighter gauge strings on the standard tuning bass. 105-45 is good for D standard; soft and floppy (ahem).

Japanese? My first bass was a Japanese bass too, no name on it and it didn't look as cool as yours.
That's the late great Johnny Gustafson with the Big Three. Later with Quatermass, Roxy Music, Shawn Phillips, Ian Gillan Band, The Pirates etc. Did a lot of sessions too and was a superb singer.
A Fender guy (first a Jazz and then the P) until switched to a Wal in '77(ish). Wal JG Custom is named after him.
Sure ya can. Get some contrasting wood and fill in the top of the routs so it looks like an artsy design. If anyone asks, tell them you got it from Joe Bouchard of Blue Öyster Cult.
