It does look like something Gibson would've done in the 60s.....but, imo, it absolutely needs something besides sunburst, especially with a name like "Meteora" :rollno:

....like this! (if the link works right :meh: )

Fender Player Plus Active Meteora Bass - Tequilla Sunrise with Pau Ferro Fingerboard

I’m not sorry but that is the fugliest shaging thing I have seen in a long time…. Expect to be taunted mercilessly if y’all buy one… especially in either of those fugly ass colours…

Something I don't recall encountering before. I put some used GHS Pressurewounds on the NR. The D and the G string sound like there is a little bit of tremolo effect going on. Not the chorus type effect when the pickup is too close but more tremolo. The A really doesn't seem to have that, but I think I can detect it. I lowered the PUPs and that seems to help a little, but it doesn't go away entirely and the PUPs are so low they start lacking some definition. I have used strings with that material Alloy 52 before (Roto Ultra Mags), and didn't encounter that. If it were just one string I would think the string is bad.

Nice! Congratulations. Do you know what the weight is? So far I've heard of none less than 9 lbs.

Thanks
It is in the 9lb range, it feels heavy but with the gibson strap it feels pretty balanced, no issues for me.
I am just loving this bass so much, never expected the giant tone from it.

I was trying to be openminded but just can't suspend reason that long. It may sound great, but sometimes trying to be cool backfires. Like this with this.

Thanks. Have you played a "regular" Gibson Thunderbird? Just curious how similar they sound because the pickups seem to be the same.

I have not, this is the firts one, I assume it should be similar but no clue, I am curious also how this compare to a “regula” Thunderbird or a non reverse

I leave you guys alone for like 5 minutes to go do some errands (and laundry :( ), and this happens :rollno:

Why must you keep reminding me how dumb I was to sell my Mark head..... I rocked that thing for many years with zero issues. Other than the bass player. He was a goof.

I have to alternate. Between you with the Peavey, and @GBassNorth with the Redbird :smug:

It was thinking unkind thoughts about humans.

Pretty normal state of affairs with my cats, it would seem

Needs more chrome!

Doesn't everything?

Only one way to find out!

Sounds like we need somebody that has both a modern reverse AND one of the new NRs to go buy a G2, so they can do a comparison for the rest of us :D:laugh:

I tend to like unusually shaped basses, most of the time. At least, to look at ;)
But they shouldn't be painted like a Fender P from a 70s dive-bar C&W band :meh:

imo :)

I did this on-line interview with Frank from @bestbassgear last year and just was just made aware it was on the YouTube! You throw spaghetti on the wall and sometimes you never know if it sticks or not until later, as was the case with this interview! There is T-bird related content if not directly/exclusively. :)

LOL - the only thing it’s missing is a tort pick guard.:D

Seriously, the shape is kinda, meh, to me. To my eyes it’s more or less a melding of a Tbird, a Jaguar and an old Univox guitar in an overly contrived way of attempting to make something look new and fresh. Not my cuppa tea on some of the finish options either. Sound clips that are out there also sound very twangy on the G and D strings. I’ve never been a fan of the dual jazz pup.

I Don’t think you’ll need to worry any time soon about me getting one of these, I’m still drooling over Kara’s CAR Eppi and the new burgundy NR. I already have all the Fender basses and guitars that interest me (P bass, Jazz bass, Tele bass, Boner bass, Mustang Bass, Jaguar bass, Starcaster Bass, and Stratocaster guitars).

Sometimes, hearing an interview can be disappointing, not because of the content, but because it removes your preconceived notions.

Whenever I read @JIO posts, they were always in Sean Connery's voice. Now I know otherwise and it will never be the same.
