Thunderbird Club

This..........was not an overly easy thing to re-arrange. :dead:
Why I do these sorts of things, for no apparent reason, is likely only known by whoever (whomever? :rollno: ) knows where all the missing socks have gone :meh:
Before

As you guys may remember, I'm not exactly short - the knobs on the pf350, hiding up on top, are now just a bit below eye level.....roughly 66" from the floor.
The measurement has a bit of a wide tolerance, due to the limitations of my measuring equipment

.......and my cat seems slightly confused by the change, per usual :roflmao:

:)
My OCD thanks you! That Peavey cab on its side was driving me nutz.
But the more important question… how many chin ups are you up to now?
Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s more than me. I haven’t done any in the last 20 years, and with a torn rotator cuff I doubt I’d get half way to the first rep before I screamed uncle. :(

So Bob's not your uncle?

Hi everyone
I just joined the club, just got my first Thunderbird , I got the Gene Simmons model, not because I am a Kiss fan although I am, I just love the looks of the bass and the specs, specially the bridge, tuners and the binding etc
The only issue is I don’t like the pickguard, I would like to change it for a regular bird pickguard but cannot find any online. Any advice on were to get one?

I would strongly suggest having one made custom using your original as a template, no off the shelf version will fit your bass - There's no crossover of PGs one Thunderbirds, even Gibson over the years has changed the shape and screw pattern.
meantime post us a picture of that cool new bass so I can give you a club number and a formal welcome ;)

I haven't seen one of those things for years, I have tried them a few times also, they were fairly common around Mass at some point, didn't they come with a cab with something like one 18" speaker along with two 10's? Mass has always been a big Ampeg state though for bass. They were made on the East Coast for a long time. Not many of those big amps around anymore. Like most places it's difficult to tell the bass amp from guitar amps nowadays onstage......sad state of affairs .

Yes, there was a cab with an 18 & two 10s....wouldn't mind having one of those, but I've no clue where I'd put it.

Peaveys, being from/made in the South, made them the most common amp brand available, by far, in TN in the 70s & 80s. :)

.......

Yeah, it was the sideways thing that ultimately got to me.
I thought, clearly incorrectly, with both cabs being sideways, I'd be okay with it :rollno:
Maybe if I'd changed the orientation of the Peavey logos......

Chin-ups? Me? Oh, no, that's not happened in at least as long as you've not done them :dead:
That thing is one of those multi-exercize gizmos though, so I use it to help with sit-ups. It's just easier to store like that, than on the floor, where I will absolutely trip over it

I've used these folks before:

Home - Pickguard Planet

They've got a lot of options, and do good work, and can do as V suggested, use your original pickguard as a template.

Just send them an email with what you're wanting & they should be able to help you out :)

That's about the only exercise I'd get with one.

I used Pickguardian.com for mine.

Our very own club member @Engle did a bang up job for me on a truss cover with logo. He might be able to help you with a pickguard replacement. I suspect the current stock Tbird guard is not an exact match to the G2 Tbird guard. You might be able to find out by taking your guard down to your local guitar store to see if the size and holes line up with a standard Tbird.

Thanks for recommending that Bill Wyman doc , movie, or whatever it was, it was actually very moving and had lots of great early Stone's clips, really good sound and it's hard to believe that he left them 30 years ago.

Yah, I agree - I saw it at the Roxy theater when it debuted here in SF and they had a good crowd. It was a bit bass-player centric, but well done for anyone who likes the Stones and loves a good documentary. (as I do) It made me proud to be part of the family of bass-brothers/sisters, and especially because I'm sort of an amateur chronicle-izer of my own band as the bass-player. :)
