Thunderbird Club

The only issue I have with the D800+ is the fan noise when I’m playing at home. I also realize a 6 pound 800 watt head is going to need a fan. And I have a PF50T:D.

My Peavey Max 250 is the same way; any time I'm not actively playing, the fan is clearly audible.

My Ampeg pf350 (which is almost 2x the power output of the Peavey), however, is almost dead silent

Great pics! Love seeing all the faces with names, especially the smiling ones. I see you managed to get the gratuitous fuzzy slippers in one of the pictures so Willie would feel right at home. I’m a little concerned about the body on the floor but assume you were using the “no blood, no foul” rules. Can’t wait to see the rest of the pics. Wish I could have been there.

It was the 1st... it's up to us not to make it the last!

This his how a portrait should look! A very happy Jeff playing a bevy of T-birds and hangin' with the flock. What's not to like? :bassist:

I could probably get louder with different cabs, but I can’t see a situation where I would need to.

Don't wear ear protection; angle the cab(s)right at yer ears. Won't be long b4 yer asking "what fan?"

I don't have a 2011 on my list. If you measure from the 12th fret wire to the center of both pickups, I'll add it to the list. The closest I have in measurements currently are:

2014 Epiphone Classic IV Pro 10 1/8" 14 7/16"
2013 Gibson Thunderbird 10 1/4" 14 5/8"
2019 Epiphone Classic IV Pro 10 1/4" 14 1/2"
2015 Gibson Thunderbird 10 1/4" 14 1/2"

2011 Gibson T’bird 10 1/8” 14 1/2”
MIC refurb Epi T’Bird 10 7/8” 14 9/16”

A Short note to start with as I need a nap!
I want to express my most sincere thanks to our host Chucky Stiletti and his lovely wife Rosa.
Theu opened up their lovely home to all of us, we had a ready place to try out all the wonderful basses - A fantastic lunch of Tacos made just for by Rosa.
Frank and just completed what has to a record trip between Capitola, CA and Des Moines, WA, 855.1 Miles in 12hours 25 minutes, we left at 2:40AM (3 hours sleep) and arrive back in out beloved Washington at 3:05PM
It's an amazing, wonderful thing to be drawn together by our love for these iconic, lovable, idiosyncratic basses, I'm still a bit in wonderment over it, I will post some pics later
For now, thank you again Chucky and course all that could be there.

Best. Club. Ever!

Marshall looks to be taking the two handed drinking approach.

Yep. You, Kara, Darren,……missed some great fun.

I've worn ear baffles since the 'early '80s. Many varieties in every price range. (no excuse) And I still have tinnitus in my left ear.

A nap really helped!

Here's some of mine in small groups.

Marshall, myself and Jeff in a cute little bar in Capitola, the beer was cold and hit the spot as we'd had a bit of a walk from the Subie.

Obviously two beers is Jeff's limit......We're off to crash Chuck's show ( and I have to say that everyone was super cool in Cali, nothing but positive vibes) and BTW Jeff thanks for picking up the tab, come to Seattle and you know I've got it.

2 beers and 2 packs of smokes :)

A little drive outside of Capitola got us Chuck's party gig, these folks were super nice and quite obviously know how to throw a proper party. It was a perfect afternoon by the lake, sun, breeze, great music and wonderful new friends.

Chuck and his mates at work - They were great! Everyone is quite talented and the afternoon's music was outstanding, I really enjoyed the gentleman that played both keys and guitar.

After a good sleep I got up and dressed (this take about 1:15 to do btw) Frank and I hit the scenic highways of California to Chuck's place. I have to admit that we would have been utterly, completely lost without a phone to navigate us!
It was finally time to play some basses, I'm putting these here first as I honestly didn't think that this bass would be anyone's fave but it seemed that everyone liked it quite a lot, my '89 Gibson with Lull Pickups. At one point we did have the SVT up a bit and with the bass dimed it was the BIG ANGRY LOUD PIANO. The guys however got very different tones from it.

Even with a cast on his hand Jio is a master player, amazing palm muting technique and a very different tone from mine.

Here's Dave (Stealth57) with it.
