Loved the Commodores and this song in a sea of mostly forgettable music of the same era....

I have to admit that I also like some of the Commodores music. Like most music of any era, it hasn't really lived past that time very much, but some of it was good.

Yes, some. Appalachia not so much which is the eastern parts of N. Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and on up to Canada, but I believe most of the larger mountains are North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky areas.

All the red is not tornado alley, which is more along the Mississippi and to west more than to the east.

I've seen those types of cracks on poly finishes that had nothing to do with the neck. Nut looks a little strange. Not sure what's up with what looks like glue globs on the side. What's a good price? Under $1k?

No, that is generally just to the west of the Mississippi river (Texas up to Minnesota).

I'm no cab designer but if I had to speculate I'd say Bergantino uses much more efficient speakers, they may have a longer throw which would move more air and the cab enclosure and sound board may be a better design. It's a sealed cab design, don't recall if the Ampeg is sealed or ported. Chuck asked about the weight, IIRC it's nearly 100 pounds. I don't know what size magnets or voice coils each manufacturer uses or if there's any crossover circuitry or wiring scheme that adds more oomph.

All I can say from first hand experience is that I took both a fridge and this berg out to my backyard in my last house and cranked the volume on the SVT amp. I was able to drive the fridge to distortion and slight farting out (at incredible volume levels). I connected to the berg and it stayed insanely clean well beyond the fridge volume levels. I don't recall which Ampeg 810 I was playing through (it would have been built around 2005) but I've been told that Ampeg has a heritage model (or something like that) that might be more robust than it's other 810 model - IDK.

One of my VPs (the $399 burst) looks worse that that and has been fine for years. String Tension pulls the slight cracks together the way mine is. I dropped a little glue in, but it was so small I'm doubting much glue ever got into the crack. It's on both sides, this being the "worst." Hardly noticeable in person.

Thanks for the good info. The Heritage series is fantastic. My 410 is of that series and it sounds fantastic. Better drivers and wood, among other things. I seriously dislike every Ampeg 410 I've played--but the heritage. Without question worth the extra $100 over their other 410s new.

Yes, good point. One I never fully understood, other than that more narrow area could be made to look more more of an alley or straight line. As the above map indicates the tornado occurrence is not that much less further east a good bit.
