Thunderbird Club

Ok some fun for the day, help me spend my money!

I’m totally undecided what color or finish to put on my next build. Here’s the finishing company I want to try out, they have tons of great finishes shown on their website…
Gallery - GuitarPaintGuys - Check out some of our work!

Which finish would you choose?

Design parameters:
Most likely a NR Fenderbird dual pickup build.
Neck will most likely be vintage stained maple with a maple fretboard, black blocks, black binding.
Hardware will be chrome or nickel
Pickguard will be parchment (not white)
I already have black, white, gold, brown and pink Tbirds - so extra points for picking something other than those colors.
Copper Metalflake, which is close to S.W. Emberglow-what I would want on a custom build.

No. I bought the 67 NR in 73. It came with the OHSC, which eventually 'died'. Attempted repairs didn't work out, so I've gone through a few replacements-a softside keyboard case(unwieldy PITA), that gig bag(w/o padding I didn't trust it), and the Coffin case(OK, but unwieldy, kinda heavy, and PITA to stash at a gig). No 'off-the-shelf' case is long enuff-has to be 51+" inside length.
I've modded few 2000s reverse Thunderbird

cases they work pretty well. I pull the material up on the nody section, remove the foam and cut new foam in the shape of a NR. Put it all back together with spray upholstery adhesive.

I bought a case online that had the insert cut for a reverse(didn't know it came that way). I considered doing surgery on it, but the bass still wasn't gonna fit. Returned it.

All awesome finishes! I’ve drooled over that Orange Gold Leaf job many times.

I’ve used Pat Wilkins a few times in the past and have always been very pleased with his work. Same for Marty Bell, who is like the king of glitter finishes. I think I read somewhere that Marty unfortunately is no longer in the business. That’s the reason I’ve decided to give Guitar Paint Guys a try on this build. I’m looking to expand my experience with different finishers so I have more choices for future builds.

Speaking of which, I do have you https://www.gildaxe.com/examples and LightFX/Holoflash Paint jobs — Mean Street Guitars on my short list of finishers for some future builds. Probably a year or more out. I hope to find a house in my up coming move that has room for a fabrication shop so I can get back into building unique guitars and basses. No desire or patience to do finishing work, especially when others can do it so much better.
That’s really cool George!
