Thunderbird Club

Just in case you all know someone looking for a Rhodes, I don’t think these folks know what they have. Looks super clean. Located in the Bay Area and not too far from me. I see these for anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500.

I hope your big-eye (ceramic?) kitty 'head' is secured to the cab with putty. I played a gig where I set an overpriced glass of scotch on my amp and started the show. 1/2 way through the 1st song it 'gravitated' to the floor ~krash!~ Live & learn...

Not ceramic, stuffed & fuzzy :D

Wait just a doggone minute..... When did the 2x15 show up????

Peavey furniture is good for Cali. Earthquake proof.

A couple of weeks ago? It's a 215D

Speaking of Peaveys, this is $275 on FB Marketplace. It’s got it all: parametric EQ, graphic EQ, (speaker saving)compressor, and look at the patching you can do. And 2 ohm capable.

Nice-looking Mark 3 - is that price for both? If so, it's a pretty great deal

Both nice looking Epiphone Thunderbird IV models. If you can, play both. Pay attention to overall weight, neck thickness, neck dive and sound. If one feels and sounds better to you, that’s the one to get.

Unfortunately playing them is not an option. That is why I raised the question initially to see if there was some known issues

Yes, I can confirm the neck plate bit, mine is from 2016. Best bass I've ever played, both in feel and level of confort when playing. Outclasses every other bass I've ever tried in any music shop out, even more expensive basses or brands. These "cheaper" "lower level" Epiphones are pure gold, honest.

As GBassNorth said, these are the Epi Thunderbird IV model. Newer Epi Thunderbirds have slimmer necks than older versions but I believe the pickups have not really changed over the years. They also went with (what I assume is) a cheaper to produce neck plate instead of using the chrome version that contained the serial number. I think the newer Birds have the serial number on the back of the headstock.

I dont really care about the neck plate much as long as it is stable, but the Slimmer neck on newer models does sound like a Plus to me

I posted about that here today too and I think mine is the same one except silver and mine still works too. Nope looked again, mine's a little different but it's a Korg and I bought it during the 80's too.
For those who don't remember life before tuners they were nothing short of revolutionary. No arguments with the guitar player about who's right and it immediately made just about any bands performance better. Not only that but doing your own setups became a breeze. Once I got a tuner I could never be without one again.
